I have started assembling the p-38.

Here are some photos of the carbon spar. It slides into a tube towards the top of each wing. The wing strengtheners are still there in the bottom of the wing.

I have installed the wiring but need to redo some of it with shorter servo extensions. It's a bit like spaghetti.

I will probably go with the batteries in the nose. I will use two batteries in parallel hope fully they will fit.

PS I have the HK Mosquito on it's way, another "got-to-have"!
I just received the HK 61" Mustang. I was thinking of either the Mossie or the B-25 next. Please let us know how it goes and point us to the new thread.

Andrew, so the V2 comes with a carbon center spar or did you install that yourself?

the v2 comes with the carbon spar.
It seems that j-power have sorted out all of the main issues.
I'm pretty pleased, I wasn't expecting a v2.
As I read this thread while waiting for delivery, there were lots of complaints about the quality of the plane and as yet there isn't conclusive proof that the quality will be constant but it does look like j-power want to improve their planes.

I am having problems with the motors. 1 works fine the other runs slower. I'm switching round the esc's tomorrow as i think that could be the problem. i bought the esc's seperatly.

Hi,

I got it from here:
http://www.brchobbies.com/?page=shop...ditem&item=437

I imagine it's only a matter of time before the upgraded version is available at HK.

HK is selling their P38 stock pretty cheap, it was $170-ish a week or two ago and now they're like $135 or something.
Stay on the page long enough and a "one time only" offer comes up even cheaper.
I've noticed they do that for stock that doesn't sell fast.
Looks like they're trying to move their V1's so they can start selling the V2's.

I paid about $172 for mine with no servos just airframe, retracts and motors.

Nailed down my motor problem. Very frustrating but my own fault. When I soldered the bullet connectors to the esc I broke the wire when stripping it. The esc worked fine when the cables were not under stress but when put into the wing with the cables bent slightly it wouldn't work. Of course when I took it all out to test it worked fine.

Hi,

I ordered the bird in the Cal Cutie scheme on November 16th, it already was at $127.64 back then. Now it is at $123.62, so no real change... should have waited for that offer-popup though...
Didn't have any idea there were a V2 coming until a few days back, if I had known that I would have cancelled the order as it probably is the old V1 they are selling.

Anyways, the plane was on backorder when I ordered and when it came back into stock, it was sold out instantly. They then got new stock a few days back, only 3 left as of now, so this bird sells quite good, I guess most people have no clue that there's gonna be a new version. Also I doubt that HK will raise the price for the V2 when they get it...

Cheers,
Bernhard

You should be very happy then. V2 isn't worth another $73, but i think you got a bargain.

Well, it's still the going price at BH ( I know you are in the UK).

Of course, I did spend another $50, upgrading the motors. Anyone need a couple of stock ones?
