Not at all - toss in 1 earbud ... keep the other ear free. MAGIC. I'd much rather have 1 going to sound from my plance mic and the other to some tunes... u can easily rip out an earbud if u need to focus in a hurry.

I bet that the people that fly with no sound though are more keen on visual queues (camera / OSD) than others though. They almost HAVE to be. The people WITH sound are prob the ones that end up taking engines noise for granted (thinking that they are safe) while forgetting that up elevator they set and losing altitude fast - heh heh.

Especially when I get my EPP flying wing designed for combat!!! I will be really brave then! At least it will make for good entertainment if I pick the right music!

Aye but the music I listen to would lead to attacking the earth.

I received my new equipment from Cercom Technologies and immediately went to work on making my Ground Station. The Cercom products are small and compact, they make for a nice clean setup. Here is the result....

Carrying case from Harbor Freight Tools

Clean interior (you can see the 7ah SLA battery in the top left that powers everything. I still have room to put the Cercom googles whenever they are released)

The RED patch cable is what I will be attaching to the Ethernet port to run to the patch antenna on the tripod.

7" Haier Digital LCD TV and Rx w/SMA connector from Cercom

Close-up RX w/SMA (will be adding a pigtail SMA that will go from the RX to the top of the case where it will have a bulkhead connector so I can just screw a omni antenna onto it)

Ground station w/ Diversity from Cercom

Ethernet port mounted in side of lid for cable to Patch on tripod

Patch w/integrated RX

FIRESLAYER --- over time your batt connection(s) will be less solid. Are there any kinda positive-lock batt connections you can use? I'd hate for them to slide off in flight. Maybe a more permanent/solid connection w/ in inline switch?

FireSlayer26, that ground station rocks! I may have to steal that Ethernet port connector through the case idea for my box. It would be much nicer to fix all the wiring inside the box and just have a single cable going out. Also relieves any tripping over the cable hazard to the Diversity. Sweet idea.

Also Fireslayer ---- heatshrink your monitor brackets in black, or do some small foam blocks (black). Cut a slit in the blocks, throw some glue in there... and then you get a little "cushion" on the brackets for when you travel.

Actually... just cut slits in the foam, cover the brackets and then heatshrink it closed - this way it's more "removeable" than glue if you need to readjust it.

Gee, forgot about this thread :-)
Its funny how it works. I had small case with 7" monitor and barely could fit anything in there, forget Oracle diversity ..Aint gona fit there.
So I got NEW diversity GS from :http://www.cercomtechnology.com/ and all things went in reverse.
Now I have a 15" monitor and almost invisible diversity GS and plenty of room for ....... hmmm airplane

Thanks for the comments and ideas everyone!

Sentry- Yes, I think I will add a Deans connector and solder the wires to the battery for a secure connection. Also, I do need to dress up the monitor bracket a bit too.

Cherokee- Go right ahead. It does make the whole setup nice and clean. I will only have one rj45 cable going from my box to the tripod with the small Cercom patch antenna on it.
