Here is my first attempt at a ground station. Took a lot of ideas out of this thread.

22 x 14 x 7 1/2 Rolling Case
15.6 inch laptop screen (goes to blue on no signal)
- Bought a conversion setup for power and VGA output
- Will be used for video or the computer for Ardu Mission Planner W/telemetry
9" Phillips screen (Backup - no blue screen
Clarion VA700 7 channel Video Distribution Amplifier
Mini ITX computer - Dual core, 8 GB, 120 gb SSD, PicoPSU (COOL!)
Video Capture device for computer for recording video
2 Case fans
Outputs for Fat Shark Goggles
Power out and A/V input to/from Tripod

Separate Antenna tripod with Diversity, dual 1.2 receivers

Power distribution:
Dual 6s 5000 batteries to 12V 10A 120w Regulator
External 12V input
External 120V input to 12 10A 120W switching power supply
All connected together to DPDT relays and switches to one 12V main power bus
5V 5A 25W regulator.

Powered the computer and monitor (15.6"). Ran a 6s 3000 battery for 1 hour and used 1800 mA. ~ 35w and 2.2 amps per the Watts up.

Below are some pics and a diagram of my proposed setup. Inputs would be greatly appreciated. I know...lots of switches!!

It's not a speed demon, but works great for running the Mission planner and field operations.

The two times I've tried to mount a GS box on a tripod, it feels flimsy. Can someone with a solid and stable tripod setup explain what you used to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Try a box that mounts on a broom handle shoved into the ground/snow/dirt/grass/forest/ziptied to a fence.

Question: How do you use the existing cable to connect this to a 3S lipo? What connector do I need to buy? Then is it just a matter of soldering the connector onto the cable that comes with the Pyle splitter?

Thanks in advance!
Hi,

I use this one in my GS, works great! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-to-4-Car-D...item1e763dc1dc

You can save some bucks by buying this one...

Great, you have diversity also right? Did you make the circuit+code yourself? Would you share it?

Have you made a max. range test?

Sure, I have. But it is just microprocessor and partially used board for scrooge's universal FPV system - receiver, stabilizer and OSD on same board.
Basically almost same diversity system can be made with any comparator

Schematic of all connection was never drawn, and it is MSP430 based - this processor is not very popular.

Not yet, scrooge's OSD in not fully debugged, I don't want to take a risk to fly far away without RTH system

Sorry, guess I was not clear on that point. The conversion does nothing for the blue screen issue (that's what the Phillips 9" backup screen is for as i does not go to blue screen).

When you pull out a laptop LCD out of one, you cannot just hook it up to a computer because of the connectors. Needs a way of getting the power and video signal out.

Had to buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/110925504614...84.m1497.l2649

Oh, understand. Soooo, is there a good way to prevent blue screen beside buying a pass through recorder ? I just got a Haier 19" LCD TV and it's picture is fantastic for FPV but unusable because it does not tolerate static at all

Not that I know of. I've looked everywhere, but no joy. That's why I did the backup option of the 9" Philips.
