You can find it on ebay. I bought one for a 7" monitor.

You're totally right. It is the 7" TFT LCD Color Car Rearview monitor from tomtop.wholesaler (ebay). The screen will give a blue screen when the signal gets bad, but:
- It will only give a blue screen far after there's so much noise in the video signal that you are already unable to see anything...
- As soon as the signal get's a little better the LCD will show the image again, in just a few miliseconds.

In my opinion it's really great bang for bucks and usable for FPV. I paid about EURO 24 including shipping to The Netherlands!

In my case I have a video booster (10 USD on ebay), 1 video in to 4 video out. 1 video out goes to my LCD screen, the other 3 video out go to the tulip panel plugs. You can easily plug you goggles in the groundstation, as well as 2 other items, e.g. a laptop for recording, or your buddy with his own glasses etc.

The 2 USB ports provide a constant 5V, so you are able to charge your video goggles while flying, or charge anything else with usb. I charge my Walkera QR Ladybird with it while in the field
I also got this screen, but I have not tried it yet. What do you think of the picture? Is it good?

Gymnast,

that is a fantastic groundstation....!!!!

Maybe use a 'extending adjustable' painters rollers pole to extend that CP antenna higher:-)
....amazing work!

p.s.
what is that 'Grey Colored' airplane you have next to your GroundStation?
(color looks stealthy) :-)

Thanks! The grey plane with black wing tips is a Great Planes Spirit Glider. It's an awesome platform, as I can get it up to altitude, hit the loiter button, and look around with the camera for up to an hour.

Back Pack Ground station

I have been inspired by the multirotors to become more portable.

I have been thinking about this for a couple of months, and finally

I was able to put together a system that will work for me.

Here is the build log

1st test of my G.S

I'm still figuring it all out, but it worked great for the 1st time yesterday:

Naxa 19 inch ac/dc powered straight from 3S 4000mah

T.Z. case (pelican knockoff), and speaker stands from Amazon

Wine box for JapanDVR, Pyle splitter, IRC Duo5800 w/ patch and CP antennas (I have spironets in the picture, but will be using cloverleaf/skewplanar combo. 3s 2200mah to power Vrx and pyle.

Fatshark Predator V2 also hooked up for co-pilot/ spectators.

Homemade foamboard sunshade

Using my MX400 quad to fart around at home. (the quad setup is so easy a caveman could do it)

Also doing some groundpounding FPV w/ my Axial Wraith.

Indoor and Outdoor setups LP and CP diversity

Finally happy with my Groundstations. Tested the indoor last night and was excellent with just a LP.
The oudoor setup is for long range (LP) and (CP's) for buzzing around close and low. Setup on either is just a couple minutes with single battery for either.

Walkera stock props. Walkera makes the prop adapter so you can only use their props.

The start of my first

Hello experts.

Comments are very welcome, as it is very new to me.

This is my first station, just started with FPV. Since I start small, I will make what I can, of the things I already have.

Found an old Denver TV with built in DVD, where the DVD was broken. Took the DVD out and put a ITX Board (Intel ® Desktop Board D2500HN) in instead. Have the TV set for FPV, and a 7 "touch screen on the transmitter. It shows telemetry from copter / plane, and since it is a toutch, which is connected to the PC, I can make changes during use. Or change view.

Now all I need is to make a tripod that it can sit on, and where the antennas are up in the air.

The plan is to make other antennas, or perhaps an antenna tracker.

It's good enough for flying FPV! Don't expect something like a Full HD monitor, but for a security cam FPV setup (I have a 600tvl from sc2000) it's more then good enough!
