Here is a full blog post on it right here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1746211
The LCD module is an AMC2004A which is HD44780 compatible LCD module. The keypad is custom built, and yes I did open source it .

My transport case/ground station is almost completed.
All electronics is done, only thing left to do is find a place that sells grey foam for the inside...

Very nice!
Best price on case foam I have found is foam factory, its amazing how expensive that stuff is! These guys are inexpensive, quick shipping and I'm very happy with the quality. I ordered 3" for my GS case. Solid Base- http://www.foambymail.com/CR_2/charcoal-foam-base.html Pick and Pluck- http://www.foambymail.com/PNPCR/pick...coal-foam.html Hope this helps! |

Nice job jabba it's good to see people are making Groundstations nice and compact and simple on the front panels. I personally can't see the point of hundreds of switches when all you want to do when you get to the field is hit the power and press record!!!! I was as guilty as anyone for to many switches on my first groundstation.

I flight tested my homebrew diversity today and it worked quite well! I was on the edge of a fog bank where I flew so I tested by going 1.5km out and over the fog. At 1.5km I had 37% RSSI on my RX with bluebeam, and obiously my rubber duck on RX 2 had no signal at that point ROFL. After I was done flying Input 1 had logged 15m of video time while RX 2 had logged 8m, so it was switching. Airplane has a bluebeam o it so the rubber duck is not a great match for it, I plan to put a bi-quad on it instead soon.
I noticed no video issues while switching, infact I never noticed it switch unless I was looking at the indicator lights! All in all I am quite happy with it and I feel it works very well, now to get a nice long range antenna! |
