Carnauba Wax

The great Phil Barnes says that Carnauba based was is all you need when using epoxy bagged wings, well at least that's what my memory tells me.

Is this what he's talking about:

or does it need to be a paste wax?

Hard, 100% pure Carnuba wax. No paste.

The Mother's step 3 pure carnuba wax in the can is what I use now, as seen in John's link above. I started using the Mother's when the auto parts stores stopped carrying the Meguir's.

I use the Mother's stuff in the bottle, I've never tried the tin stuff, but the liquid wax has always worked fine for my bagging.

The Mother's can wax smells nice too. This is what I use for all my molding also.

Car wax works great with room temperature cures, but won't work if you heat cure the part. I would recommend investing in a can of mold release wax. It doesn't cost that much and will last for years.

I cure mine up to 135 f with mothers car wax ..Im sure the hood of most cars see higher temps than that but I could be wrong SL

Sorry, probably should have clarified that when I tried it, I was curing a part out at 160 degrees under vacuum.
