Hi Ron 101,

It would be good to see the video w/o the music so I can hear the throttle management. It sounds like you are in the throttle a lot?

Baseline numbers are in and I'm shocked

Cool to see all the interest... thanks guys
Wocketman if you look at the rest of my videos there is a video of it with no music...

Well guys... I'm more confused than ever now..lol
I've been flying this plane for quite some time now.. 50+ flights and the weight is more than I thought and the power is less.. but it flys so nice. I bought a really nice digital Berkley Fish Scale that goes up to 65 pounds.. I havn't checked the weight since I swaped out to 30c packs many flights ago.. my old school scale has been off.. so I need to recheck all my planes
wish I would have bought this scale along time ago it works great for checking thrust also... so here's the numbers

Ready to fly weight is 17 lbs 9 oz !!

DS-94 1521 2y on 12s 30c 5000 TP pro power packs

Throttle******Watts*******Amps*******pounds installed thrust

1/2*********(1680)*******(35)************(3.14)
3/4*********(2540)*******(56)*************(8)
Full*********(3950)*******(90)************(10.2)

it does burst to 4200 watts but settles quickly to 3950

So I'm really shocked that it will cruise once on step with only 1/2 throttle ..3 pounds thrust!! lol... that's funny.. I know it has to over come the friction of the wheels but that can't be much force
and at full it's only making 10.2 pounds and 3950 watts... but it flys so nice
in a way this makes me feel better .. almost like number really don't matter all that much... after dinner I'm going to pull out the fan and start working on the install... then I'll run these test in the same exact way either tomorrow or Saturday... I'll keep you posted

Ron

When measuring the force just make sure that the teather is parallel to the direction of force. No angles up or down or your scale won't read all the force.

ive told people for a while. static dosnt mean jack. youve got to be recouping alot once in air and the inelts begin to work better. at 4kw, in perfect situation(ie inlet lip, short tail pipe bench test)youd probably see 12-13 lbs of thrust.

I agree ..on the first page I said all these number will mean nothing.. the flight test will will tell the tell... and if my reading are messed up.. I'll do them the exact same way for the dyn-e-max.. so they will be just as messed up

Before I removed anything .. I put in the packs and checked the CG on my Vanessa CG rig. I'm sure many of you have seen them before but for the newer guys I've found now better way to check CG on the bigger planes.

I need to apologize for the last couple years I've been saying that my DS-94 and CC110 HV is 1lbs 6oz.. I was wrong. It's 1 lbs 12.2 oz. The Dyn-E-Max with the CC110 HV is 2 lbs. 3.5 oz... so I'm going to gain 7oz.

I could lose that 7oz by running one air tank and one servo for the retracts and brakes and be at the same weight I was before.. but I really don't think 7oz is going to matter

So I'm going to be 18 lbs... up from 17 lbs 9oz
I think it's going to fly just fine

There is going to be about a 3/8 gap in the ducting... I could cut it top and bottom a few inches up the duct and flair it out to meet in the middle.. but I think I might be better off just leaving it and grabing some extra air ( what do you guys think?)

So back to it in the morning

later
Ron

I just found 5 oz to shave.. I'm dropping to one big air tank for brakes and retracts ( I have two now).. tossing one RX pack and regulator.. I used those heavy extension locks.. I'll use fishing line.. if I can find 2 more oz.. I'll be back to my starting weight of 17 lbs 9 oz

I'll find those 2oz

it may sound crazy to drop one 2s 1350 pack.. but after four flights I take out 150 mah out of eash... forget that it's gone

I may lose the brake servo too.. that would give me my original weight... do the one servo setup... for brakes and retracts.. which means I'll will have an extra channel then I could lose the servo reverser I have on the nose wheel..

Hell I'll be lighter than I was to start

not sure what you have planned, but id just cut the inner walls free from the rounded outside of the ducts about 3" up stream from the fan, then glue them together to a taper right in front of the fan, then cut your half circle for spinner clearance....
