Very interesting in regards to the pots possibly being the cause.. But then again it's not like I adjust the pots before every flight so how would they fail..

BTW...I still feel at the moment the beastx clones are the best flying clone gyros on the market. I will hold out for the VCTRC 3GX v3..

I agree that the beast clones are the best. Not using pots cause just as many problems as over using them. When bad they either short out or short in lol! Reason cheap servos end up heading one direction and sticking that way. They rarely just stop in the middle.

Cheap pots usually have no protection from the elements. Humidity, dust, and dirt are free to enter. The metal for contact or coating for resistance also comes into play.

Hi Mike. Yes, on a 450 Pro. I check it at the end of a flight and it's always cool. It performs better than the DS520, I took off.

I gave it a good run in on the bench (about an hour IIRC), at a setting that had it just warm. It should have bedded in the brushes nicely, something people forget about with brushed motors.

Poor HK-500...no love anymore.

I wish I had never sold mine. Just when I got it sorted out really well with some nice upgrades I let someone have it for next to nothing.

If I was forced to sell all of my helis, bar one, I would most likely keep the 500. Nice size and not too expensive to run or repair.

BF... For you the 500 and for me the 450. As a good compromise I might have to build an ALZRC 480 rigid with the 6s power system this summer...

Hi All

Got a question for you.
I have a 500GT. standard gears, Hobbymate 1700 Kv motor and 13t pinion.
Originally built and flown on a 5s pack. I now am trying out 6s.
Looking for smooth gentle flying ( I am a noob) and I find the 6s pack a little frantic.
I have dropped the throttle curve down to 70% and it's fine, however I hear that the esc is more efficient at higher settings.
Is it worth dropping to a 12t, and bumping up the throttle curve?
Your thoughts, please
Cheers
BL

Yes! jump down to the 12t. Don't freak out about the speed. Think of it like a top. The faster it spins the more stable it will be.
