I guess you would be more confused if your house burnt down and you lost all your possessions.

Sorry.. Just what you wrote sounds very complacent.

Some people are pretty competent, have some life skills, common sense, intuition and experience.

I'm not scared of Lipos anymore, simply by using one or more of the above attributes.

Talking about responsibility, I have had this autogyro for a couple weeks now. It is kind of a novelty, but is a relaxing break from your 1.5HP exploding Lipo powered monstrosities.

It flies like a plank. How often do your helis catch fire in flight or in your car?

Me, none yet, but I am complacent so it hasn't happened to me.

This will not catch fire most likely. I've flown planks for 6 years so far, no fires there - that is my intuitive guess.

It's great to have people evaluating new packs - but the trouble is you need to have a lot of cycles thru them before you can say if they're worth the money.

Although I try to be as systematic as possible with my own packs, I always seem to end up flying a discharged pack every once in a while, which probably affects the longevity. I now have just one Gens Ace pack still usable after 120 cycles, but the other two failed at around 100 cycles.

@ridge_racer - that seems like a pretty good price for those 6s 2600 Nano Techs. Hope they're good!

@2Doggs...the epbuddy packs are great. A member at my club first told me about them then I saw the thread for them in the batteries forum. People have said they are made at the same factory as Gen Ace packs...who knows.... http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...hlight=epbuddi

I saw that when I went to pay for the beast pack at $37. Sure it comes with a plug, but I will be cutting that off anyway!

Settings

Using a collective range of 70 in conjunction with aileron and elevator ranges of 80 must result in you running your servos to the end stops at combined full collective and cyclic inputs.

Your deadband settings of 40 and 60 seem really high.

Since all the servo trims are zero in the .ini file, I presume you have used TX sub trim - you usually set your TX sub trims to give you zeros in the ZYX "monitor" screen, and then use servo trim in the ZYX to get the servo arms perfectly level at 50% collective.

But if it flies OK, what the heck....

Thats a really nice write up. Would make for a great sticky for the new comers on a budget wanting to try their hand on an Hk-500.

You're not gorilla torquing the screws are you?

Kit screws are always bad no matter who makes it in my experience. I was no more impressed with the screws in the Align parts I've bought than I was with Tarot or ALZRC. The collar screws are good but that's probably because those have to be made to order and can't just be bought in bulk from whoever is selling them at the lowest price. I always just replace all the screws in a kit with stainless steel ones from Trimcraft Aviation R/C. You can get a pack of 25 screws for a buck or less (RC Screwz is a ripoff btw). If you want alloy steel screws then Fastenel has all the sizes you need for similar prices. I personally like the stainless better in frame parts because of their tendency to bent rather than snap and the heads seem to hold up better over time. I still use allow steel in things like blade grips though.

Edit, I keep hearing about the quality of Tarot parts, but have had issues with screws that break off at the head in the tail grip and other stuff. For example, with the new tail, the aluminum pulley is not something I'd expect even from XHeli/EXI. It could be cut off with an razor, but it is pretty sloppy. I hope the Align shaft will not have any play. You still get what you pay for.

Mhills, would you know what MG sets are are available for the SM-3481M? Did you buy them at one time?
The Tarot pulleys I have (one in helicopter and a spare) look better than that.
