Lol @ $21 paint stirrers..That would suck. Ironic - I to had my eye on these. But yes if i were you i would just sand em down till you have a nice fit. I do not for-see a problem because the light sanding would be in the root. keep me posted. For 20 bucks on some decent 500 cf blades I'm still game.

Yeah, .020 - .030" would do it. I'll just sand them.

If you want good CF blades for the 500 for $20 the best I found are 3D PRO's http://www.experiencerc.com/store/43...01-p-7908.html

They are out, but you can find them all over ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/DY-4301-PRO-...item3f19906523

I also got a pair of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6592 These actually fit the head, but I haven't tried them yet.
Any opinions on TIG blades? The 325s work great on my 450, but less lift than the standard fiberglass or even Align CF 325s. I'll have to adjust my expo. They're pretty quiet, and well made for the most part.

More on topic - Anyway, I've am having fun with the new HK500GT. It's not something you'd start out flying helicopters with, and I have a lot of spare time to tweak it. I hated the plastic parts of the flybar head, and sidestepped all that with a flybarless one. My rating would be 2 out of 10 for the head and 5.5 out of 10 for the rest of the airframe.

Yes the plastic on the HK is very weak and gives the align reinforced plastic a bad rap. I thought the plastic HK mixing arms were OK until they slowly bent out of shape on their own. I then replaced them with Tarot metal, but that turned out to be almost as bad because the play between the bearings and the arms were so bad green loctite wouldn't even hold.

I'm sorry Stixx44... Me first!
Maidened the new motor and pack today, and it was just ok. It sounded really nice in flight though. Turnigy 1700kV motor 12T with Turnigy 6S 25C 1300mah packs (last they had). It was 'kind of cool' with YEP gov store, but will have to fly some more and tweak it. It seems heavy with the TIG low lift blades...I'll see what it is like without governor. Maybe a 13 or 14T to get it to 3000-3100RPM governed...Still 3.7V/cell after 6 min..Oh well.

I have the ESC extension, cuz I program it a lot. I just like messing around with these things.

450 FB progress

I should post to the 450 thread, but I love seeing "Large Electric Helis (1 Viewing)".

I moved my chair mat and have put some screws in the flybar 450. I get tired of all these parts and thinking, so I usually just watch TV instead for 5 hours and go to bed. They all fit so far, so I am going to put the rotor thing on and the rod for the tail propellor. When I am done with that, I'm going to put the in the air soon and hoover like no ones business.

Is there nothing Carbon Fiber can not do? Ask yourself, how can I make Carbon Fiber work for my application? And then look for sites that have the parts cheap.

I'll have you know I have some other HK canopies that are about the same. But red and one other color like orange or blue or something and somewhat cooler. The Align/Mikado heli crowd scoffs at them, but I am positive I made a wise purchase.
