Hi Paul

One thing I like about the forums is how you get an answer almost before you've finished typing.
Thanks Paul for being first out of the gate.
Seen these before. Can I assume the threads on each end go in opposite directions?
If so, I can get almost infinite adjustment. This is for my 500GT. Do you think I should get some Align balls as well, for a slop free fit?

Thanks

BL

BTW, where in the UK are you?

Yep, you would be correct regarding the level of adjustment due to left hand and right hand threads at opposing ends. I'm just outside Doncaster, sunny South Yorkshire. (Gods own county )

I've never had big issues with the HK balls, the link ends on the other hand, well there's a topic on its own.

Thanks for the alternative, but the listing shows these go between the servos and the swash.
I wanted something to replace the links from the swash to the mixer arms.
Have I got it wrong?
Pity, those link ends look a lot stronger than the Align ones.

Not the first one on the list and the last one on the list is for fbl. Only the pic of the three are for swash to servos.

I just ordered a couple of YEP esc's to try out. I ended up getting the 45a for my 450 and the 80a to try on the 500. This hobby is killing me wallet this month, but... it is worth every penny!

On another note:

Just a tip to others who decide to use the MG930's on the cyclic. I had to limit my pitch range to 11 degrees and my cyclic to 8 degrees so that the servos wouldn't bind at extreme movements.

Hearing that mate. I have the 45a on my HK450Pro FBL. It's a very nice controller. I'm still learning the programming on mine (make sure you buy the programming card), and making the occasional adjustment to see what differences they make. I still haven't managed to get an ultra soft start like an Align controller but it's still by no means harsh and the model flys superbly.

Roger that, I've had a Turnigy Sentry 40A in my 450 that I had to swap out of an airplane after my align controller took a dump. Figured I'll swap that back and get my old airplane back in action. To be honest, I've grown to like the fast spool up. The slow start on that turnigy 85a I put on my 500 isn't bad either, it is def. softer than the sentry 40.

I did pick up a programming card for this one, I've always had good luck using the tx, but figured for $5 I might as well go for it.

I maidened the new 500GT today. As I was adjusting the tracking, ball in the mixing arm pulled out of the arm . I took it back home and put the old mixing arms on the new head, as I had this head adjusted. The mixing arms in this kit were of some crummy plastic, and were pretty inferior to the ones from my old 500 head. I didn't check the washout arms, but should have. I just wanted to get a couple easy flights in with the stock kit for some reason, and it flew well actually.

Also, one Turnigy cyclic servo didn't start working once, until I pressed on the arm, so I don't trust that anymore.

Any suggestions for a decent say $30 MG cyclic servo in that size? If not, I think I'll just put this 500 on the shelf. I'm not going to spend another $150-180 on this.

If you have any suggestions for a set of servos for less than $100 shipped, I'm going to put my second RJX head and ZYX-S on this.

I was thinking the HS-82MG would be adequate?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hitec-HS-82M...item48465cd206
Would be about $60 shipped for 3 servos.

I flew a pack this morning after work and brought it home in one piece. Going to keep doing thorough post flight inspections for peace of mind. I actually had a big bird make a couple passes at this thing, I couldn't believe that thing had the guts to go anywhere near this one.

One other thing, I lowered my ail, elev settings in order to get 8 degrees of cyclic and it seems a bit lethargic. I'm using the typhoon 1800kv motor, 12t pinion, 6s at 80% flat throttle. Kind of blows, because if I raise the cyclic pitch anymore I'll run into the binding issue with the mg930's. You guys think lighter paddles would help much?

Edit: It could be that I've been flying my 130x so much lately that this thing just feels slower, I dunno.

Try upping your thottle. The 500 are kinda heavy for their class and like a lot of power. That's not at all to say you can't run them lower, but doing so you will be fighting the collective. I find right around 80% to be the dipping point. Point wear you need a lot of collective to bring it back level after dropping. Sorry I never learned heli lingo.
I would try that first.

I'll give her a go at 90% later today. I hope it doesn't explode!

LOL, that wasn't very successful, I upped my throttle from 80 to 90%. I spooled up, went into idle 1 (75%) flicked into idle 2 (90%) and it looked like a wood chipper, the main gear completely shredded!

Anyhow, I threw another one in and am back in action. Guess I'll leave the throttle at 80%.
