Here is my 500 putting around the street. The weather wouldn't give me a chance to go to my area and wring it out, but this is better than nothing. This puppy is smooth now! Don't laugh at my socks being pulled up, the mosquitoes are freaking terrible where I'm at.

HK 500 CMT TT 6S (4 min 50 sec)

I have to give kudos to that copter x gyro. Using that usb cable made setup a breeze, and the thing holds great on those pitch pumps.

It was bit windy, but she flew great!

I went ahead and bought a set of the Lynx canopy mounts as my stock grommets are already trashed.

I guess I'll be ready to fly the 500GT tomorrow. Flew the HK FBL 500 for 3 flights, and the 450 v2 12 flights. I can't get the hang of funnels yet, even though I can do them in the sim. Same with tic-tocks. Everything is too perfect in the sim. I seem to be able to recover from a lot more situations now

My (on sale last year, never to be stocked again) $30 6S 3300 30C Blue lipos from XHeli have been dropping off over the past two months with a bad cell here and there. One cell is typically 3.4V while the others are 3.75 after landing, and really hot. Starting to see a 0.1v lower cell in another pack also. I should rebuild them.
I charge at less than 1C and come down with 3.75-3.80V after 4.5 minutes, so I haven't abused them.

I've been recommended the Sky Lipo 6S 3300 30C, so I went with a few of those.

Just stay away from those rinos. I had one here on my desk that was a wrong order, but what are you going to do it was only a $8 three cell 450mh it puffed just sitting here on my desk. I have only ordered two other rinos. One for my truck (came with a bad cell) and one for the 500 (came with a bad cell) Not a good track record lol!

A update the Yep is not only running great, but not even warm. Motor is still on fire, but I guess that's just a Leopard. I need to get one of those tarot motor mounts with the heat sink. It's funny with the plastic blade holders from align. They stick so much to the blades that every time I go to the park they are out of tracking, but just until a do a couple of flips and they are locked in perfect. I guess I could just put a little grease on them, but then they would just collect dust

All my batteries are Turnigy for 450s and airplanes, but didn't even consider it for the 500. I've never had a problem with Turnigy. Power of suggestion I guess. I should get a couple Turnigy 30 or 40C packs also this fall.

I have no complaints about ZYX 3.50 or YEP after 35 or so flights. The ZYX is very well behaved now IMO.
I -think- with a FB heli I would have gotten a main wobble with low head speed and lots of collective and pitch or roll (dumb thumbs with everything going wrong). With FBL I can still orient the tail and get out of it, even after entering a maneuver at like 60 mph. It's pretty cool.

It sure is a long road for me. At least I don't crash much any more. I envy you guys that picked up 3D naturally in 3 or 4 months. It's taken me 8 times that long to just start attempting it with a real heli. Some of that was wavering, and I took a couple months off here and there, but I'm still here. It is the challenge that keeps me interested.

I have had bad luck with Blue Lipos and Sky Lipos. The 2s packs I have used from both brands have lasted me no more than 4 months before I started getting bad cells and low charge capacity. Going forward I will only use 35C or higher Nanotechs or pony up and buy GenAce...

Don't feel too bad. I only try stuff first on the 450s and still even then...

BTW...no issues with my YEP 80amp ESC. Only runs the BEC kinda hot when sitting on the bench. When it is flying, everything except the motor is cool.

Hi all, need a little help.

I have a 500GT, with Tarot solid upper links. I am trying out a new set of blades, and I can't get the tracking spot on.
I only have the long links to play with, and one turn either way on them makes the difference between one blade high, and the other.
Effectively, I need to get half a turn on the long links.

Any ideas?

Cheers

BL
