I just got an Ice75 for my 500, and a Ice100 for my 600. Both now have the cc bec pro installed, and now i need to upgrade the servos and motor. The 500 will soon have a micro beast fbl unit, and the 600 has a spartan quark installed. I dont mean to brag, but this expensive stuff better make my helis more reliable....

low end of the high end or best bang for the buck is still the align 510, 610 on ebay for all three at once or grandrc also parts out kits and sells them in a open 3 pack for less.

I tried running it in soft start and it gave me the same kind of blip in power on the new 450mx motor before updating it. So perhaps this startup power takes care of that.
Which governor are you using ? Gov Store or normal? With Normal governor you will get a "kick" each time you power up - when the motor has reached max revs, it is the ESC confirming this, in normal gov the ESC measures the power of the batteries (and hence sets max HS) each power up. So you will always get (for example depending on Throttle curves) 80% of possible HS for that battery.

With Gov Store, you set it to measure max HS with one of your weak batteries, the ESC then remembers this and then you would get 80% of that figure irrelevant of which battery is used - and it is VERY consistent

Got the new servo on the tail. Spool up, no more bad wag, then the tt tail drive gears decided to get mangled somehow. Unreal... I feel like I should have just gotten the belt drive model. I'm not touching this thing until monday after I get back from a canoe trip, maybe I'll have a little more patience.

Are you useing align t.t gears ? Hope so. Any clone t.t gears are very soft and strip easy. Ease into idle up 1 and 2..A sudden Burst From low rpm's will even strip align gears.

I just got a YEP 100 for my second 500 and another 45A for my FB 450, so all helis will have governors I can also use the 100A ESC for a pylon racer next year if god forbid that something happens to my sweet HK500GT.
I shouldn't have sold my Typhoon 500, and will use the ExceedRC motor <shrug>. And a few canopies each for 450 and 500. I had all the stuff for a 6S 450 power system in my cart, but will hold off for a while since I bought like $150 of 40C 3S 2200s, well just last week, heh.

I think the hesitation during spool up in the YEP is intrinsic, and is no problem for me. I take off at around 1500 RPM, and it hasn't caused a problem.

I'd like to be RCG plus something. What is RCG plus?

Tail vibes cont...

So, after trying different things with the tt, even adding a third tt bearing, i still got the vibes. Then i put on some old align cf tail blades (white w/black strip) even though one is a bit soft around the center due to crash damage, and no more bad vibe. There is still some vibe while the heli is on the ground, but once i picked it up, it smoothed out. Maybe its the weight of the plastic blades causing extra strain on the grips or something, but all i know is that i'm not using plastic tail blades on the 500 anymore.

Time to load up a hk cart, and wait a while for processing/shipping...

Its not the tail Blade that is the problem... remember you crashed them . Nothing wrong with plastic blade grips either, just sometimes they just need to be balanced just light any other tail blade you get in CF or glass.

The yep will not work at 2% and I didn't take my programming board with me to the field Got back home and the only thing I had to change was from 2% back to auto startup power.

In 2% it would just start to turn and then complete stop with the controller beeping.

Sorry about that, mhills51. My YEP is definitely using 2% and I know a lot of people on HeliFreak are using 2%, also. What motor are you using?
