I went with the ds520 after the rc timer servo failed me. I think most would agree its best to not skimp on the tail servo. Haven't tried anything else. Was just doing some looking around and theres not much info about the heli I ordered as it just came out at the end of march. Didn't realize that. Definatelly setup much different than the rexes. One thing I like is you can replace just the gear part of the drive gear for TT. It's not a complete assembly like the rexes TT. Should be cheaper to fix. Still hoping someone can give me an answer on the amp draw question I posted for 8s. I could go 10S if there is a motor that can be had cheap. Believe with the 8s ill get the HK t600 880 kv. Either way, with 8s or 10s i'll only need 1 more batt as I already have a 4s and a 5s pack. Just wanna make sure the 70A HV esc I wanna get will be up to the task. If I need to go higher gonna be slightly upset. The only other semi cheap option is the 80a dlux HV from HK. Think it's close to the same price as the hobbywing platinum 70A HV.

I could support the LHS with buying another $60 S9257 servo...They have been the most reliable component out of all my 450s and 500 besides the Hitec HS-65MGs on my 450s.

I have 3 Futaba S9257s that I bought after screwing around with three HKS9257s and one other cheesy 9257 knock off that I can't remember (oooh! .06sec servo for $14!)

Actually I did almost destroy a Futaba S9257 last year. The case was broken and the gears stripped. I used the case and gears from a new HKS9257 to rebuild it. Still works great! I suppress memories sometimes.

The ds520 is only 50 at most places, and I think you can even get it for mid 40's if you do some looking around

I've never had a problem with align servos. Is a good choice. Will post an update on my 500 when I get the tail drive gear from naryan. Suppose if it flies I'll have to give him all the credit, lol. Think I'll go with the ICE 100. Is 119 and can go up to 8s. Think that will be my safest bet. Hate to spend 60 bucks on a 70a and it end up dieing on me.

I am using spring metalgear coreless servos on my pro. I tested one of the cyclic servos and it tested out at 0.11 speed. They are $25 at RC711 and I am trying their .06 on the tail for $26

do they have 600 size servos mhills? If so might try them if the solar servos crap out. Got a question for anyone using a governor mode with the castle ice ESC's. Lets say I'm running the 1800kv motor on 13t pinion on 6s with the hk500. As people would know the throttle curves have to be lowered a lot to not overspeed the head. That's easy. There in lies my question. If running the castle esc, could you set the governor to the desired HS, and keep 100% throttle curves? If so, would there be a difference between doing it that way, and doing it by lowering throttle curves. The whole reason for my question is I'm trying to save 30 bucks. Can get a turnigy 600 1000kv for 36. I'd need like a 10t pinion on 8s to keep the HS reasonable. I can't find a 10t 0.8mod pinion though. So if I go with that one, i'll either have to lower my throttle curve to keep it under control, OR use the castle governor. I know the best choice would be to obviously choose a better motor, but under the circumstances, which of those 2 would be the best option. Turnigy does make an 880kv for which I can use like a 12 or 13t pinion which is easily found, but that motor is 60. Yes i'm extremely cheap.

Edit: I see they do have those servos for a 600 at the same 26 dollar price tag. While that price is definatelly cheap, for 10 bucks more could get the hyperion DS-20's which I know have been reliable for people. Those are a bit on the slow side though, unless you get the .07 speed one for 50 bucks. I still wonder what happened to broderp. Putting my money on he made a flight attempt, crashed, sold it, and decided to never mention it again ....lol... prolly what I should be doing...

I doubt they will update the 600gt. Think its still based on the one before the esp came out. Now if they came out with a pro clone at the same 150 price tag,that would be a deal. The ehirobo one is just too much at 300 even going with the cheapest possible electrics

My laptop is down, so i cant get to my heliport calculator for you. There are some free head speed calc downloads out there... You just have to find one. I think readyheli.com has one on their site. Or google heliport.

Oh, yea I know. I got that figured out, just trying to see if lowering my HS by using the governor on the esc is going to be effective and not overwork my esc or motor

Hey under governor will the helicopter not speed all the way up without the blades on? I have mine set for 85, but when I start it up it acts just like I have throttle curves set. Mine radio under normal is 0, 85, 85, 85, 85 and the CC is set for low gov.

Also I am not to sure about the spring servos. One under start up just went full negative just like a bad 930. At least the one that did it I never liked from the git go. You couldn't move it easily with your hands. Felt like it was binding or something from day one unlike the other two.

Hmmm, no idea to either of your questions. I've never used a governor before so it's gonna be a new experience for me. I don't think it should matter if the blades are on or not. Is there not a place to set a specific HS? When I was looking at the stuff for the ice 100 you put in like a specific number and your gearing ratio
