Howdy,
Here`s a couple links you may find interesting, first link is for a model cyclogyro on youtube.
Second link is from modern mechanix back in the 30`s, you may verywell need your rockets to get 2 of these off the ground, page 1&3 caterpillar blades!?! Don`t want to be in or even near this thing when they wind up them blades.lol Second page has a drawing of a double deck cyclogyro transport an their idea on how the wings worked. Good luck with yours Al love to see it in the air.http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2007/...ngs-or-motors/ P.S. Another link to the fanwing and video http://www.fanwing.com/ Last edited by Old coot; Oct 17, 2009 at 09:40 PM. |

Sharing the thoughts is what it's about, and the FUN.
Hi Guys,
Keep those cool links and ideas flowing, thanks. Meanwhile in a hot and sandy cave, a gazillion miles from the world, we continue. My Chevy Blazer is back from the 'OK Garage' all tickety boo and driving/stopping in a straight line again, phew! I wonder where they put the rattles and klonks they remove during a servicing, we keep our fast jet ones in a special box for later. Undercarriage is done, pressing on with the tail group this morning. @ Dave, I'm eating and sleeping as I type thizzzz. More laters, Cheers, Regards to all, Al

The Fanwing looks really good, I love slow flying aircraft. Surely though it is not an autogyro - the blades are powered?

Unless of course I misunderstood your question Dave, and you were referring to the rotors on his design. -Mike |

I'm CMBD driven, drug free.
Hi Guys,
Dave, Mike, The rotor blades on my Baco-Liner are air driven, they will Auto rotate in the Vertical plane, but I would think you could crank them round by some means fair or foul, might be worth a future look. That's in principle what a Fan wing is, with some modifications. Gentlemen, alas, you have discovered my undoing, I am a victim of CMBD, and have been, for many years, I am afraid there is no known cure, not that I want nor need one, CMBD was first diagnosed by Prof. Willie Buildit and confirmed by Dr Kit Started in the early '60's after a succession of clinical trials involving Kiel Kraft balsa models.Symptoms usually include, hoarding of re-usable very small aeroplane parts, large stocks of adhesives, craft knives, wood and composite materials. Furthermore CMBD cases often stabilise when model production is steady, but they can be seen, on occasion, to jump from one bizarre project to an even more bizzarer one at the drop of a hat, resulting in a seemingly random flow of models, flying well or not. Spare a thought for those less fortunate, that they make do with BARF's to have their flying FUN. There, I feel better alreadfy for getting that off my chest, now where's that sandpaper? I feel the need for more Compulsive Model Building Disorder(ing), Cheers, Regards to all, Al

outside for an undercarriage static stability and half rotor test!
Hi Guys,
Moving on now with the Baco-Liner, however I lost 2 hours to visit the Dentist this morning, 30km away across darkest Al Khobar and back. Wallies now top class minty condition for the lassie's wedding on Sat, WooHoo! I droped the BL bugger 4 feet off the build board but no damage except a small cosmetic graze on the side, no biggy.Servo's going in later tonight so ready to test fly soon. I tried her outside with next to hee haw (very little) wind, they do turn over so I'm hoping this will work as theorised. A small, very small videoette of the non windy testing. Cheers, regards to all, Al

Hi Rich,
Thanks mate, I think it's kind of Classic Retro-ish. Aah the old BYD list eh? I have to be 284 1/2 yrs for that to be completed, I have 'no chance' as they say, and that's the condensed version. PM on it's way to you. Cheers, regards to all, Al

Hi Rich,
Many thanks for the drawing information, it was a good help, you can only glean so much information from a photograph. I'm almost done on the B.L., just got to build the other rotor half in situ, nothing too easy More laters, cheers, Regards to all, Al
