I've got a Version 1 JF90 fan that I'll be running in my F-100 along with a spare CS90 rotor. My plan is to fly both rotors within a few weeks of the maiden. Probably maiden the model with the JF90 because I know it's going to be real simple to set up smooth and get some initial flights and data, and then after I get it dialed in I'd like to fly the CS 12 blade rotor. When I get two minutes to spare and can get to my workshop I'll be on track to actually finish this jet and hopefully get some data for you. Better yet, how 'bout you buy one of these and finish it up so you can keep me motivated I've sucked poor Luke's free time dry in all the pictures and videos he's made for us in the name of classic Century Series fighters being brought back to life.

Het 700-68-1400, CC100 ESC. 8S (6+2) 4500 45-90C NanoTech.
3.14 Kg thrust(6.9 lbs) Data log details:-
26.5 Volts
117 Amps
3118.6 Watts
31,604 RPM ( i am assuming motor is 4 pole)
Kv under load=1188 kv
Can you tell me your numbers please mate?
Thanks

C of G FF F-100

I have been flying over 35 flights so far with the center of gravity located 280mm from the LE. With the cockpit blinged out at 150g my 840g 6S 5800mah Zippy 30C battery is pushed all the way to the back of the battery cave.
For those building 8S it would be helpful to move the fan farther back to keep the C of G right. It wouldn't be hard to do in the building stages. My total flying weight is 4kg (8.8 pounds for non-metric types) with the drop tanks but it flies as if it was lighter.
Cheers Eric

Your avg cell voltage is dipping below 3.5 (3.3 per cell) or you might have a popped or lazy cell in the pack.

eddie P, you wont be disapointed with the jetfan, and im here to tell you the amps will be WAY less for the same performance over the cs90. and it sounds just as good

For the Watts to Watts are we talking about the JF90 needing 25-35% less power for the same static thrust using similar motor mag fields?

If so it sounds like something to look at.

the JF90 only has about 5% more load than a midi fan. i know the CS looks and sounds cool, but so does the JF and it does it at alot less amps. my 9 lbs HET prototype F-20 does a good 140mph and has awesome vert for weighing 9.25lbs....all this on only 2600W on 8s. 5 min flights with lots of hot dogging are the normal for it. and it takes over 1/2 power to stay at a good clip because of the lack of wing LOL

Do you remember the static thrust on 2600 watts?

Also, anyone know the release time of the f20?

Looks like good speed

Steve, Those # look about right for the 1400kv motor. Here is my data log for a flight, it shows some motor run ups and then the take off, then after take off I throttle back and keep the rest of the flight around 60 amps. This was the short test hop when the combination was new. I never bothered to check the # on any following flights.

No thrust tube, works great as is for me plus I have the larger elevator servo's suck into the fuse, actually protruding into the tail pipe, so a thrust tube would not work that well on mine.

That would explain it- your cells being new and not broken in. What a lot of people suggest for new packs is 5 cycles at 1C going to 2C by the 5th cycle to "break in" packs. After 5 cycles you should be good to fly and expect full pack voltage and performance under load. I would not do any more full power runs with those packs until you give them 4 more cycles under a lot less load. Then have at them.

It's not such a big deal with packs being used as "sport" packs on low amp applications. Our poor packs put up with extreme abuse in high amp draw setups so break in has become the norm in EDF.
