Congrats Birdofplay

Birdofplay, congrats on selling the house, I remember seeing the ad for it when viewing your site, I know its been for sale for quite some time it seems. Good luck with the move to IN!

Also...

I'm not sure if I pm'ed you about this or not....are you willing or able to cnc templates of either the 100% version or a scaled up 130% version of the twins, maybe even a 150% version? I'm thinking with the STTTBP material. Thats See Temp Transparent Template Building Plastic from RCFOAM.COM.

I scaled up 100% version to 130% and had printed out at repographics place, but not real satisfied with having to compensate, make adjustments for the "foam thickness" dims that scaled up as well. Anyway not real thrilled about committing the dims that are off to my template material. Looking for a more precise solution. Thanks for your input.

@ s_mack, welcome to the twins cargo thread, it's curiously addicting. BTW: I'm really looking forward to getting my SmartieParts board into my 9X.

BG: I have given that some thought but never tried it.

Template materials are solid plastic and I HAVE had some issued with some plastics
tending to slightly melt and then build up on my router bits and as
a consequence ruining the part as the bit essentially GROWS in size.

I had that happen with Rtech type foams with low temp plastic skins.
The foam cut ok but the skins made a mess!

I remove the easy peel off skin on Pink and Blue 1/2 foams 1st B4 cutting

Since I am Fast Forward Mode I'd better leave that experiment until I get resettled.

Thanks for the heads up, I suspected that may be the case with a move coming up and all.

Prop question

Hey guys,
This is my power setup:
2x hextronic 1300KV 24g motor (originally recommended by F&T)
1x 1500mah 3S battery
2x HobbyKing 12A BlueSeries Brushless Speed Controller

I was wondering what props (size, 2 or 3 blade, GWS or APC) would you guys recommend to get maximum performance out of this motor while still keeping all my electronics cool?
Can somebody also tell me how much thrust and amps are you guys getting out of this motor with your prop recommendation?
Thanks in advance

I pull 10-12 amps per motor, static with the same setup. I'm currently using GWS EP9050 props (I've tried the GWS 8x6 slow fly props, but they consume a couple of more amps). As for thrust, on a good battery (I'm using 1300mah 30-40C batteries), and cool air, my 850gram plane can climb(slowly) from a hover.

Thanks Jeff. But isn't the motor's max amp capacity 7.5amp? If it goes above that wont the motor be damaged?

I think 7-10 amps is safe(assuming you only run wide open for <10sec), and those figures are for static amps. The "true" running amps will drop when flying. I can say for sure that after a couple of dozen flights I've had no issues, but if you are concerned, a 8x4 may get you where you want.

I have the Differential thrust Switched so I can use it or not.

I'm going to switch to the Turnigy L3010C in the hope of carrying a heavier payload. On my current config 20oz is my payload limit. I was wondering about the 3000mah batteries you are using.

Are you using one for both motors?
What kind of flight times are you getting?
What brand and C are they?

I figure there's no sense repeating what someone has already learned. I'm preparing for a large candy drop and will be building two more to go with. I also saw in one of your posts that you will(or may did) be moving to Indiana. I'm curious as to which city, but regardless welcome to the hoosier state.

a LITTEL HARD TO READ IN THE NACELLS
but Mine are 3010e I believe.

I was using a 3000mah Turnigy Blue not nano, but I always thought that a 4000 would be better.
I just could NOT get it to balance , @ 4000, with the current equipment placement.

Even with all that weight it would practically JUMP off the runway.
I never tested payload max as my runway was almost always lousy !

Depending on how hard it was flown doing POWER nose ups zooms and hover attempts
it could be flown easy with lots of touch and goes. for maybe 8-10 minutes.

Recall that My fuse got trashed and all I have now is the Wing.

It'll get rebuilt AFTER I get settled in Indianapolis.
Probably the SE quadrant SE of the city between 65 and 74 sorta kinda there abouts !
I worked in Elkhart until '02, retired, moved to WA state and then along came the grand kids.
I'm going back for them, mostly.

Jezzz,Bob,
Nice set-up ya got there..
Great selection and quality work..
Hard to find that around here.
I have a liking of some u don't have listed..
Like ,,,the Polaris, Polarcat, sr-71 blckbird{RCpowers} version, the NASA Shuttle,..
There are tons of them out there just waiting for some kinda glue,,he he !!
The latest I Noticed last night was that slow fly Bipe...
Some guy has started to go with it but just at Headsuprc .com//
go take a look at,,,,,,,,,,

www.slow bipe.com

I don't see any infridgement rights but he did say he didn't want to share the drawings.
Of course that wouldn't stop many reverse engineers out there..lolo
Well were close neighbors and I hope your move goes well..
rudder-up and wings level ,,
Till later,
Lenny

I am NOT into cutting OTHER designs unless I have permission.

Everything that I DO offer is OKY DOKY with the designers.

I was turned down on the Polaris, right off the bat.
I presume that similar designs are off the table too.

crxmanpat or Pat is doing the sr-71 although I do have a 125% version for myself.

My recent mod of Jim Waggoners' F-15 for Slide on Ground is available.
I like it and just flew it again this am ! :-)

That super slow Bip is another proprietary design.
I saw it at the Monroe Swap in WA state a couple of yrs ago.
Then it was on there site for a while then I saw it at HURC.
Too bad as I believe I could do it cheaper.
Oh well.

This is too small of a comunity to step on ANYBODY'S toes, ya know !

I wont be looking for anything new for a few months while
I am settling in at my new location.

Very nice.
Can you estimate how many hours of work it needed ?
Also, could you post the motors/ESC/props/servos/battery you used ?
Thanks in advance.
