CC ICE-100 weight gain

I don't know but the specs show a weight of 56.7gm or 2oz for the ICE-100. I bought 2 because of the power handling and low weight. Horrors, when I weighed mine, it was 110gms!! I know the weight is without wires but double the published weight?!! There must be a misprint somewhere Castle.Did you guys confuse the weight with the ICE-100 lite?

The extra is the weight of the wires. Everyone cuts their wire to a custom length and installs connectors so the actual weight will be different for each instillation.

I find it hard to believe that the weight of the wires without plugs is 55gms/ 2oz.

Let's say the wire is 4 mm in diameter. You get 2*2 *3*0.01 g per mm (cross area times copper density, all numbers heavily rounded) = 0.12g per mm. One 100mm (3") wire will add 0.12*100 = 12g. That's copper only. Add insulation and plugs, multiply by number of wires and you are pretty much there.

Wish we could solder the motor wires, or bullet connectors, directly to the ESC.. that would help immensely!

Well if that is what you want, simply cut the wires to about 1" length, solder on the connectors and go fly!

Problem solved.

Problem with that is if the motor has another type of connector already soldered on the motor leads (like the Scorpion does), you need to make an adapter, or remove the originals on the motor.

I really see this cable issue as a non-problem--almost like people are whining for the sake of whining.

I've shown a trivial solution--it solves the weight and allows you the freedom to choose whatever connector you want to use.

The other problem is that everyone likes a different connector. The wires are still the best. You can just cut the wires as short as you like.

That is why I would prefer solder pads...

The Markus controllers have this for their F5B controllers:

Yup! That is *exactly* what I wish we had with CC controllers. My ESC is almost always right up behind the motor, so wires are a waste. I know I can cut them short, but it can be tricky to solder wire - wire without melting the solder and floating the wire off the board..
