Ben, you may need to ditch the 125 and use ice 100... the 100lite is about the same size as the cc80... see if everything fits with the cc80. Remind me what motor you are using...?

I don't know about that sorry! I do know that if they are coated near the motor, you will have a very difficult time melting the coating off... I saw a thread here where they said you need to melt an asprin over the coating to get through it... ask in the motor section, they may be able to help

Would folding the wires back over the motor help?

These are 1.4 meter planes, so before you tell me to buy an escape, these are larger and from what I can tell, you MAY be able to fly it like a hotliner:

Interested? Let Bro know!

Edit: didn't know ssusa was going to carry these... much easier than me ordering for you all :P

Are you considering 4s on this motor? If its the typical B40/6-turn/F5D motor Im thinking of, know that it was origially kv-d for 9C nimh (~10.8v nominal, probably <9v suppressed). It screams on 3S lipo (11.1v) & we blew a few Hacker 140A esc's pushing thos kind of amps. The CC125 was getting close to max'd, but a better controller IMO.

I think I smell charcoal something on 4S (14.8v) unless you have a toothpick prop, then again - why?. I dont think a 100A ice would cut it on 3S nevermind 4S. Size is a secondary issue.

edit ** If its the 12-cell ?-turn B40, thats ok. Sorry forgot they made 2 flavours **

check my pic, post #19.

Replacing/re-orientating the CC-125 caps is not a big deal & will shave an inch off the esc length. The wire-over-motor rec is good too, thats how we usually do it. Direct soldering on the board is a bit iffy unless you are an experienced solderer & the assembly stays perfectly intact. Cutting the motor wires shorter is a non-no as per the coating comment.

not putting out and overheating

My Viper has a Neu 1112 1Y w/ ESC PHX CC80 w/ 4.1 x 4.1 prop -wired like GregG on his Feb 7 pic. The motor doesn't have much pull. It does't feel nor sound right and overheats within a few throttle blasts. My escape with a similar set-up has no such problems.
To test I put on a Neu Battery 3S 2500 mAh. it drew about 65 amps.
didn't have much oomph and I detected a bit of a burnt smell.
I am baffled... Might anyone know what the problem may be?
thanks.

That is way WAY too high. You should be around that many amps for a 4.75x4.75. A few possible causes come to mind

1) Is there any rubbing? IE of the spinner on the fuse? This could result in higher current draws

2) You may have burnt the motor. This would result in the kv increasing, which is counter-intuitive as you say it has less thrust (RPM) then usual...But it also could explain the smell. And if you burnt it bad enough the change in current draw...

Can you pull it out and see if the windings are a strange color at all? If so, it sounds like you should send it in to SNEU to get checked out/repaired. Maybe upgrade to something like a 1115-1.5D for 4s fun
