there will be one electric Telemaster capable of towing 15lbs for sure. But you may bring you gas tug to tow bigger stuff. Gas is allowed for tugs, see on bottom of page 1 of flyer

Weather looks promising as of now!

Fall is here, although we're going to fight it back if we can. Today was a decent day at the field. I was a little disapointed that Eric never showed up with his tow plane we worked on until midnight last Wednesday. No communication to say he would not be there.?? we all hope nothing happened to him.

SteveR and Bob journeyed up from NY to spend the day slipping through the air------------- right back to the ground. Very little lift today, however, we had a great time towing anyway. Steve took out his 1/3 LET Mini Moa and his Sharon electric glider, I had the Windex and 6 meter Ventus, Bob flew his trusty ASW 24 ?? I think. Bob also brought along a Fuse for a large ( 1/3 scale) sailplane he just got from Hobby Lobby. Real nice glass work. The plane has foam/ sheeted wings. The cost was very reasonable. Maybe Bob can jump on here with the details and some photos. Looks like a great alternative to some of the high dollar sailplanes.
Pilatus was in rare form today. NEVER did we have to flip the prop more than once to start it, and although it was windy this morning, she handled like a champ. I managed to drop another towline into the abyss today. There is something about bringing the line back that I dont quite get. This year I have deposited 3 nice towlines into someone's backyard somewhere upwind. After the glider releases and separation is confirmed, I will drop all the flaps in and roll her over into a 70 degree throttle off decent. Somewhere in the flap down and throttle down sequence, I have elected to include towline release. Its my own creation, however fell free to use it. Just bring extra towline.
All in all, it was a good day. All planes are back in one piece and I brought home my winter project. The box is full of wood and has to weigh 40 lbs. SteveR had this kit in stock and I was able to pry it loose. I'll do a build thread this winter.

Hope some others flew this weekend. Post some notes if you did.

Glad Team Salem had a good day!

The New Canaan crew was out in force. The tow plane stayed in the hangar and one group worked the winch (saw some spectacular high launches on the Shadow) while I took out the hose-monster and blasted up the Hammerhead and Zuni slopers so they'd be in trim for Cumberland. Better on a flat field than over the woods and valley!

The electric flyers had an uneventful day while I got the pleasure of maidening Dave Brady's new pattern ship. It flew great, so I wrung it out a bit. Dave now knows the virtue of Locktite as my last blender managed the seperate motor from firewall -- all four bolts came out during the flight. Luckily the motor stayed in the cowl and I got it back on the ground in one piece.

Even a gray, somewhat windy, somewhat cold day of flying reaffirms what a great hobby this is. Nice people. Fun planes.

Okay everyone, start praying to the weather gods for a nice weekend on the border of Maryland and West Virgina.

Steve

Enjoyable to be flying at Waveny today, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to complete the wing repairs on the Super Cub for towing today......Steve P made sure to remind me of my priorities

I was fortunate to find another Super Cub new in the box that I will be completing with similar installations as the current one. I will be putting in a larger Axi motor, the 5345-14 and potentially run it on 12s lipos. Hoping to have a tow plane with a bit more power for getting some of the larger scale ships up in the air (reading between the lines: my DG-600 may be a bit too much plane for the current set-up in the Super Cub with the Axi 5330-18 on 10s lipos).

I brought the winch out and flew my 2m Laser (Ron Vann design from Spektrum Sailplanes from about 1993). Got a good flight or two, after a rusty start from not flying a winch in a while.

We were able to get the Shadow up on some great launches. These were the first two flights for the plane and the second flight was ended due to soccer players taking the field......Alfred could have kept it up for a while longer with no problem.

Hoping others will come join us at Waveny weather permitting on Sunday mornings as we develop our towing abilities.

Wishing all good weather for next weekend's venture to Cumberland.

Thanks, already have a system sitting on the shelf waiting for install. Axi 5345-14, CC HV110, and some Hyperion 5000 mAh 6s packs. Should do the trick, if not I need to change my hobby

Skss

Flew today a the SKSS field
Put some time on My Hall Cherokee ....Thanks to Tony for the tow's

I towed up Terry's SHK , Lift was not as good as I thought it would be
Cold at night and a warm day did not generate the thermals that I thought it would , Still the tows made up for the lack of thermals.

Another great day at the SKSS field

Hey Len where's the pics from Cumberland?

43rd Annual Cumberland Soar For Fun

Just rolled in from a high speed trek through 5 states. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend, especially Jim Dolly and the Cumberland guys. BIG thanks to Len Buffinton for giving us serious tow capacity AND ALEX FOR TOWING ALL WEEKEND LONG! Alex, we all owe you!

Beautiful weather, good people and illusive lift. So good to see many folks I've missed since moving to Connecticut. If you've never been to the SFF, the diversity of the crowd is only surpassed by the great diversity of aircraft in the air.

Personally, today's 48 minute flight on the Nimbus 4D would normally be no big thing, but with the air we had it came as a nice accomplishment and a great way to end the season!

I never really got around to shooting pictures. Here are a few from early Saturday morning...
