Michael, thanks for your observations on the Profi 4000. It's a pity neither JR nor Futaba understand the concept of open programming. It would save them thousands in tech support phone calls. And the Multimix function completely eliminates the need for Matchboxes and related hardware. All of that programming can be accomplished within the TX. Too bad the manual sucks when it comes to clearly explaining these details.
Of course as Len points out it's true a cat or just about any other animal can program a JR, most of us would not have much interest in actually flying with such a setup! Dennis, you may recall some of the scary flights we had with my 213 at JR in years past. Happy to report that with Herbert and Len's help, the plane now flies very well. Won't go into all the details but perseverance has finally paid off. This has been a strange season for servo failures. Had a Hitec digital flap servo self-destruct on my tow plane prior to the first flight. The heat from the motor burned a hole through the bottom of the case. A 5125 elevator servo stopped functioning without warning on an ASW-28/18 and the 791 retract on the same sailplane failed suddenly last Sunday. Fortunately none of the problems occurred while airborne. Hoping for a few more decent flying weekends. Regards, Steve |

Now Asher, remember: Steve flies with those funny txs tha thave the antenna sticking out at an obscene angle.
Seriously, I wish I had bought one of those txs instead of my 9303. I got it programmed but it's a PITA.

No problem Eric, there are events at the field this weekend and last. , Next weekend I'm in NC for the race. But after that, I'll be in Salem ready to tow.
Time for a larger glider yet? len Sean, I agree the 9303 is a little bit of a pain at first, but the 12x is great. Again, just kidding about the Multiplex radios. Although now that I think about it, while Steve was programming his radio, I was FLYING LEN |

Bob, I'm in! I'm always happy to fly the tug or a sailplane! Put me to work. Len, Have a great time at the race -- If you're up for flying at Salem on the weekend of the 24th I'm in for that too. Steve PS: Just back from a great trip to costal Maine. Went for the Lobster and rest, kept driving past nice fields saying to myself, "that would be a great place to fly!"

Glad to hear the blow came through! Did any of the "big" stuff make it in the air over the Susquehanna?
Hope you all had a great day today @ SKSS -- it's blowing quite hard here. Stuck to the pylon racers at New Canaan. I did finally snap a few shots of the Nimbus this morning, including its new back seat passenger. We're all expecting a FULL report, photos, arrest reports, etc. of the weekend exploits in PA and DE.

since the leaves did not fall off the trees yet, it is not yet advisable to launch high wing load gliders or gliders that need to pick up some speed. I was flying my Multiplex Blizzard, and it likes to move
Today at SKSS we had lots of fun! At some point a big time thermal came through, everyone was UUUUUUUUUUUUUUp. As it went away we hit BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIg sink, and we all came down within 2min! Still a great day! Once the leaves are off, this is what it looks like when you fly 4m's at TH:

The day started a bit slow but eventually we got to towing.
Len from Ct. brought his proven Pilatus Porter and both he and Charlie did the majority of the towing. Beautiful but cool morning kept the thermals small. few and far between but the die hards were flying anyway. By midday a few good thermals kept folks flying for longer flights and were enjoyed by just about everyone. Not too many pics since I did not remember to bring my camera but I did manage to snap a couple with my phone Im sure there will be more reports as the evening progresses with hopefully some in-flight video from Terry Tony |

Great Day at the SKSS field, Miday and Late day thermals kept the planes flying
Len had some problems flying straight and level so He mostly flew inverted/Loops/Rolls and Mach 5 passes! The videos should be great with the camera on many places including back off the tow plane The best was when Terry put the camera on the belly of Lens Ventus. With a Mach 5 dive Len scraped the ground at about two inches Great Sloping on Saturday and a Sunday filled with glass slippers in the air. What a weekend Thanks to Len and Steve R for comig down Charlie |
