This is the esc in question. It has a crazy jerking pulse on the motor on start-up. I have checked all joints and even tried all timings. Also tried all the start-up modes and super soft was the most jerky. So I took another rctimer 30amp and it didnt do it. So then tried the 40amp on a different motor and the same problem happened. So it is the ecs for sure. Another issue is it will not link with my hobbywing card?
I too am having the same jerking pulse on the start up, and the shaft gets VERY hot when that happens. They have told me they are sending new bearings as it is kind of noisy too once it does start, but this leads me to suspect that the motor is suspect. I don't have a programming card for the esc, so I will try to work it with the transmitter. My motor is a 2212-6. Did changing the timing fix the pulsing?

I bought the 2212-6 30A esc combo off of epay. It is my second one, the first was flawless. It has the RC Timer logo on it. Pretty generic. Here is a short video of the behavior I am talking about.

RCTimer 2212-6 Motor problems (0 min 26 sec)

When it is stuttering, it gets too hot to touch. I emailed the company to please send me a new motor. I just got this thing yesterday.

nice video

I have no idea as to the best way to trouble-shoot something like that.
I have a BL motor that will not even turn.
Just shimmys & jitters.
Could it be the esc or the motor that is bad?
Nothing gets hot or even smells burned.
Sorry, no camera right now.
Even if the motor free-turns good, then it remains suspect?

Do you guys usually just swap the motor and esc till the faulty component is isolated?

I tried this one on a different ESC with the same results, this tells me the motor is bad.

By the video, it's not anything more than a connection issue, Tarheel.
IF you want to try and fix it:
Since the motor does the same thing with a different esc, I would resolder the plugs on the 3 motor wires but before that take a multimeter set to continuity and check each of the three motor connectors two by two. Most likely you will find one lead that is dead......either by a bad solder joint (hope!) OR an open wind inside the motor (bad, boo! ) More than likely it's a bad solder joint at the connector....xxfingers crossedxx

Good luck!

could be a bad joint Thats what I checked first with mine. Then tried many different ESC then found one that was good for the motor. Crazy, as one other ESC that I had did the same thing, then the last one I tried was perfect. It is crazy.
Nina what do I need to do with the ESC? Thanks!

My motor was twitching & spinning erratically so in my case I pulled the ESC out as you did and substituted a known good one.

The motor now spins properly.

Hoping that you get your bad motor replaced without too much hassle!

They were very quick in responding and they are sending a replacement ASAP. Great service from these guys. I will continue purchasing from them. It is nice to find a responsive vendor off shore. I highly recommend these folks.
