Found this one at about 30 bucks less than most other places.

FYI, there are other cheaper flybarless gyros out there. Just thought you should know. You can probably find one for 30 bucks or less. Honestly there's really no big deal with these things. It's just a different style head/gyro set up. Think Vhs and Beta tapes, same movies two different physical formats. But like pitchp said, if it's cheap, really cheap, I may bother with another sometime. But you have to count in the cost of the half head since most of the flybarless are not complete heads which kills this anyway, at least for me to bother looking at them anymore than I have. Plus I'm still learning so it really makes no difference to me at least.

this may sound like a dumb question but; this new 3 axis unit.. can be used with a flybar?

If not, I might try using this gyro. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ock_Gyro_.html

Will Trex 250 rotor head fit on 250GT?
If anyone have Align or HK rotor head for sale please let me know.
i just got lucky glad you got it sorted , its a pain looking for problems .
the align , exi 250 from xheli or the value hobbies head will fit the HK 250.

You can use any gyro, but for a flybarless set up you do need a flybarless unit. That other gyro you linked to is just a gyro for example.

I know some of the guys don't like this gyro (assan 250), but It's been fine for my basic lerning on the heli. I have it on the 450 here and although I don't do 3d I haven't had any problems with the later version. Some earlier versions had problems. But then again it's just a matter of choice. I like the small size, but if the new one is cheap, then by all means, why not wait since you're still planning on getting one.

Testing the HK 306 High voltage servo...on the 450 tail (7 min 59 sec)

The one you linked to is a bit bigger than the assan 250 and it's a piezo type, the assan is a mems type. The piezo type you have to let it sit for a bit so the temps equalize to the ambient air. The piezo I don't believe you need to do this, but I think there was something else you had to think about, just can't remember what it was. Nothing is perfect I guess...oh yeah they say these are more vibrations sensitive, I still haven't really had a problem with the velcro which I'm also using on the flybarless and it's fine too. I just like to test things a bit myself, so this is only from what I have experienced. But if you are doing 3d stuff, you may actually notice much more differences. So just keep this in mind.

Hey efx

I love your videos, what kind of camera are you using? I assume it is strapped to your fore-head. I need something like that to record all the crashing I'm doing, maybe I can see what I'm doing wrong. Do you have a cheap FP heli, like the HK 100, I bought one and it really helped my nose-in flight; a lot more than the sim. I fly in a field with high grass, so it sorta cushions my unschedule landing, it kinda works with the 250s because they are light, my 450s land a little harder. My big problem now is disorientation, especially with the 250s, sometime I can not figure out fast enough which way the heli is tilting.

Thanks. This is the camera I use, when I'm not lazy to take it with me and strap the bike helmet on. I put one of the mounts on the top of a bike helmet, but it gets a bit heavy so I hardly do it unless I really want to record something new I guess. Although the video is fine, I do miss some other features on this camera.

I never bought an fp heli, still not even sure what those are, I'm assuming they are the smaller ones. I just went ahead and bought the 450's and crashed those until I eventually got off the ground. No sim for me, the real world is the better sim, but I think I did break too many parts, and still doing it but I find it more fun. I have the same problem, still working on orientation myself. Grass is always better than anything else, but you still can have really bad crashes with the big helis even in grass. Taller grass may be better, but then you won't be able to find your parts or heli. Either way, I'll post what I find out when I get mine.

Since you're starting and are looking for a gyro too, I think this is a good idea even though many will say otherwise. I think in the long run if you can get this working it will save you money and help with learning, and when you get better you can turn it off. I just ordered one after all this time, but I don't regret learning all I have learned without it. So either way i think something like this will help us both learn that orientation. If you can get this and one of the cheap gyros to learn the basics, then move onto it that will help too. Might as well look into it since it takes a while to get it anyway.

So, I picked up some parts to upgrade my 250 to a shaft drive, with the new align slider and box. Do I just use the old missing parts to fill in the blanks?
Here are the parts I bought..

And the tarot shaft drive upgrade. The parts I need go between the tail pitch assembly and this http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ail-Holder-Set

You still need more parts (Align torque tube and center bearing, TT boom mount gearbox with gears/bearings/hexagonal bolts/screws). It's not a cheap conversion.

Sorry, I misread about using the tarot shaft. I'm not sure you can do that. Is the bevel gear fitting to the shaft the same?

Ya, I'm in to it for 100.00 so far....
This is the tarot shaft drive I got, I believe it has the parts you are referring to.

I'm pretty sure the Tarot torque tube and the Align torque tube have a different fitting that goes into the bevel gear. So unless you can swap the Align bevel gear in the tail gearbox for the Tarot one, it wont work.

gah. I'm doing all this research on the different types of Gyros out there. MEMS type, AVCS type, piezo type and Quartz type. I'm usually not this uncertain but.. I need some help.

don't worry too much about the nitty gritty. All you need to learn is either the HB790 gyro or the black spartan quark. once you master them you'll slowly pick up on the details of gyros.

and don't even waste your time with the assan ga250. that is one of the worse products out there.
