So I have the heli ordered, but I need to get some gear coming for it. Any suggestions on servos and a motor? I'll probably run a turnagy ESC since I have the programmer and like it, and as far as the gyro goes, I'll probably get something more high end since they can always be moved to bigger helis and the gyro has everything to do with how it flys.

Hi, i have two questions for those who are more aware what will fit in and work and what will not. Is this setup ok for normal flying (no 3d or invert) and what servo would you recommend for a tail (preferably from HobbyKing)

I have yet to get my hk250 and Im already looking for parts lots and used trex 250s on ebay and I came across this anyone know anything about using a flybarless head on a 250?

Go for the mks ds-480 for the tail. I use it at a 450 and will start use them at my 250's as well. It's abut $25 at hobbycity

I run a flybarless set up on one of my 180 class helis, and it flies OK, though ideally you want a 3 axis gyro, which adds a lot of weight.

its not really worth it on a heli as small as this, any weight/drag you save in the head, you will add with the 3 axis system.

I have not tried my flybarless 180 in forward flight, thats how little I trust it, i would never attempt to 3d it

yep, wont go 3s finaly.. ive choosen to go the 4s route(dual 2s pack) 600-610 mah will weight around 70g - ~35g each pack

so ill be able to use the 2s packs in my other helis.
my 900mah packs are abit heavy for the ff200 anyways.. have to fly w/o canopy.. the 600 should be just fine.
i like when my helis can share their batteries.

6s seem abit overkill though

You will need an ESC capable of 4s. Many claim 4s but if they have a linear BEC then you will need to disable it and run an external BEC. If it has a switching BEC and the ESC claims 4s then the BEC should be good for 4s too.

I think that you will struggle to fit the batteries in and get the canopy on with a senssible CoG using 4S

I want to use 15T pinion and a good HS for sport fly. The only ones I found are the originals Align 250, Align 250S and Scorpion 2206-3900.

For anybody building the base kit:

Anybody notice the main gear is a bit out of round so that it is pretty stiff in spots with the tail drive, or is it just mine.

Also, The bottom end of the main shaft was too big for the bearing in the main gear. I chucked the main shaft into my drill press and cleaned up the end of the shaft with some 220 wet or dry and got everything to fit.

FWIW, my motor mount was put in upside down at the factory. No biggie, but if you dont know...

Finally, I got the recommended 3500 kv motor but it is lots bigger than the Align on my "real" t-rex. It still fits, but is heavier. I may look for a smaller motor since this will be an indoor flyer and I am hoping for lighter...

I am using htx900 servos which are working out fine so far. All three installed in frame and head & linkage mounted.

That thing scares the living daylights out of me. I see how my Microheli T250 tail pitch arm is wearing a groove into the Microheli slider...if they are using the same grade aluminum that thing might be a big headache.
