Huntsville HobbyTown USA 2nd Aniversary!

I just got the email from HobbyTownUSA about their 2nd Aniversary, October 9-11.

Nice discounts on those days, plus refreshments, etc.

BUSTED!!!
Reading my post, it would appear that way, but I was actually talking about the launch. For some reason, I couldn't get the Twister launched Saturday. Finally on my 4th launch I got 'er going.

Thanks for the vid, though!

The last time I went there I asked if they had any prop savers. All I got was a lot of attitude and nasty looks.

I'm never going in the Huntsville HobbyTown again.

Well, R/C Hobbies they are Not! Your Mileage May Vary.

I get along just fine with Greg and Sean, and I don't have particularly high expectations on their delivered knowledge and available product selection in my areas of specialization. Look at the total shelf space they have filled with electric airplane stuff, compared with R/C Hobbies, for instance.

Then again, by being there in a safe neighborhood and by being open on Sundays, they expose people on the West side of town to our hobbies and such, that they might well not be exposed to had they to drive clear over to Meridian St., not my favorite part of town. It all adds up and works together, or not.

And there's always, "Vote with your Feet!" I do that frequently, too.

There are guys who come from HSV to Florence to go to the Hobby Town here.. I've been in the HTUSA in HSV a time or two and won't be going back myself..

The Huntsville HobbyTownUSA definitely has its place. For example, I busted the top hub on my Blade mCX on Friday afternoon. A quick trip over to HTUSA and I had a replacement inner shaft/top hub. Quick and easy. That's the kind of thing I patronize HTUSA for. Common items that are likely to be on the shelf.

Now, when I need a balancing tap converter to go from Align to Polyquest, I go to Rick. When I want to ask advice about a battery or what-not, I go to Rick. When I need a particular prop or servo...Rick's it is.

If you keep your expectations in line with what HTUSA is likely to stock, you shouldn't be disappointed. Greg (the manager) is a good guy and I enjoy dealing with him. His prices aren't always the best, but he does have the convenience factor going for him. I hope he sticks around.

Hmmmm ... I have $250 worth of HobbyTown USA gift cards, but my local HobbyTown obviously isn't running this promotion. Wonder if I could sucker one of you Bama boys into going down to your store store with them and ordering something from me. Maybe like somebody who watched me bust face-first during a race one time and trotted right on by with a grin on his face ...

DUDE ... I knew I was forgetting something this week. I'll burn 'em tomorrow! My attention span barely matches the new baby's any more, it seems (seriously ... I'll tell my wife I'll wave good-bye to her as I walk out the door after lunch, then get in my car and drive to work, where I find an email waiting for me with the subject, "Thank God my love isn't conditional upon me waiting at the window to wave good-bye to you ..."

15 seconds from the front door to the car pulling out of the drive ... that's how long it takes for me to get lost in thought. Usually over matters concerning WWII and its flying machines.
