You gotta love it. One guy is bouncing back and forth between forums reporting what is written.
Me I pay my Club dues and my AMA and fly. No worries. I am amazed at those that burst brain blood vessels all year about AMA this and AMA that. Then they get a AMA renewal and OK Here's my $58. You gotta love it.

Wow, busy day here in the AMA forum. This subject sure has caused a stir. And some angry people as well.

Where's the love gone?

WOW! I never thought of that. That's awesome. Just think if that was the case.

Hook line and sinker...

I know I've been caught.

My only reaction was to ask if it could be additional to AMA insurance to better cover a possible victims accident claim . Thats all id ever consider it : extra insurance . Like i said earlier im not looking to replace the AMA because ive got no problem with the AMA

Perhaps our internet experts can decipher this from the following "press release." Although I'm not sure what or how this constitutes as a press release. And in what capacity I am unsure of as well.

So from that, it looks like they want you to become a "member" but they are just selling insurance. I wonder what the other membership benefits are?

Fluff, nothing but Fluff is what the press release says. As said earlier, if it works as extra insurance with your AMA that would be nice, but in reality the 12 pounds max is a huge mistake. If they were going only after electrics, then that is a different topic, but I am building a 98 pound electric, so that would not apply. In the end if someone joins and has a plane that weighs 14 pounds, but they say it weighs 12, then who will police that, now before someone goes and blows a fuse, I am not saying that any of us need policing, but when you are starting a organization that has no rules and is nothing more than a few entrepreneur trying to make a buck you will most likely fail. Look at what their exposure is, 12 pound planes even with no rules will not get them huge claims in most cases.

Also these guys thinks the AMA is so bad, it does have a very old mentality right now, it has virtually no fresh ideas, its membership numbers is always a topic, but it is a system that needs support and a new face lift, not another option that is nowhere near a equal option. If there was a true equal option, then some would leave, but the way I see it, they will get a few that joins, but the park pilots that don't want the AMA will just keep flying and ignore the new option, why you ask, because a lot of the park fliers will someday fly a plane bigger than 12 pounds IMHO.

Just my 2 cents.

And back to the fighting.

Thanks, DAG

"big name" people who blatantly violate the rules...

When there is no method for imposing some form of penalty for violation you end up with people who decide the rules don't have to apply to everyone equally.
Fully agree!
