This Co. might grow into bigger things as it matures. Look at walmart, they started out with one little store in Ark. an now look at'em.
If ama would give the option of mag or no mag with a good price cut, they probably wouldn't have to worry about any competition ever.
$58 w/mag
$30 no/mag

You just amuse me to no end. As has been hashed and rehashed in several forums and numerous threads this was not the case. You seem to be the only person incapable of understanding that.

Of course you attempt to take the discussion off topic did not answer the point. We know virtually nothing about this venture yet many seem ready to accept them with open arms with little or no concern for who they are or anything else.

Yea ,Yea , I know "he who smelt it dealt it" . But seriously Just so you know : I wasnt kidding . I only report geniuses who come onto a model airplane forum trying to sell shoes . We should be able to entertain a lively discussion without running to the teacher every time our feelings get hurt ! If I dont like what ya say ill call you out on it , that way at least you KNOW where the disagreement came from .

Hi Silent-AV8R , this is exactly the reason i hate all the arguing going on . Id like to hear what this organization offers but its kinda hard to hear anything with all the bombs dropping . Would they be a good suppliment to AMA insurance ? ................Well we probablly wont know because no one seems to want to discuss this , instead of trying to drag up old conflicts .

Did anybody notice "no safety code". While I'm all for that it does sound like legal Swiss cheese.

Re the Safety Code:

If you read it and think about it... most of it is "common sense"

Some of it is there (the video and self guidance parts) to try to show the FAA and other government agencies that we don't want to create weapons...

Some of it is there because of "darwin award" level lack of common sense...
EG: "don't fly over people" (paraphrased) is in part due to an AMA airshow team member planting a model in the crowd at a football game, killing one and severely injuring another.

In other terms... the AMA Safety Code is a list of very good advice on how to be reasonably safe.

Most of the RC specific guidelines do expect an aircraft that is over 3 lbs and faster than 50 mph... We probably need to develop a separate indoor RC section.

Well yes, for the reasonable person who attempts to contribute to society, and doesn't act as a selfish jerk, it is common sense. However we know: 1) Some people will intentionally circumvent common sense and pretend they didn't know and claim "The rules don't say I can't fly over people so therefor I can and will. It's my right." or 2) Just don't have any. So we need rules (safety codes) thanks to those people, sadly.

Hi Mike , Ill bet that by the time the first member id card gets issued by this new company they will issue some kind of "fly using all manufacturers reccomended guidelines" statement . The funny thing about that is that just about every manufacturer reccomends AMA membership ! Like Fred Huber says there is no substitute for common sense . Its just a shame that in this lawsuit happy world we have to tell people what constitutes common sense . Should someone NEED to be told not to fly over peoples heads ? or should that come from the good grey matter God gave them ?

Go to the AMA Website and pull up the 2008 FS. The total expense for insurance (membership & general) was ~$1.2 million. That comes to about $10.00 per full dues paying member.

I assume you are referring to stickbuilder (aka Bill Hurt).

That is a problem here in Central Florida where I can't find a club within 50 miles of Leesburg that will claim him a member - so I have no idea of what meets he attends. He seemed to miss SEFF when he said he would be there and promised to "to send pics of the knuckles".

I will be at the following:
Oct 10 - Octoberfest Club 40 - Gainesville
Oct 24 - Zephyr All Electric - Zephyrhills
Nov 7 - OTOW Open Fly-In - Ocala
Dec 5 - 11th Santa Fly-In - Dunellon
