It would be nice to know all that info from this new Co.

Another question I have by reading the title of this thread is; how is this helping the AMA exactly? Anyone know?

Thanks,

Frank

What does the OP know about this company? Does RCU have a stake in this as well? Let's hear more about it and then I'll decide.

I would suspect everyone else would want to do the same.

Hi Frank , I would want to see something like this up and running for a couple of years before I would even consider using it as additional insurance . And thats all it would be to me is extra insurance - I like the AMA just fine and dont want a replacement

The thing is that this is not a competing organization, it is apparently an insurance brokerage. So in fact the only "competition" it offers the AMA is for those folks with smaller planes who would rather pay their money only for insurance and nothing else. And there may well be a market for that.

This Co. might grow into bigger things as it matures. Look at walmart, they started out with one little store in Ark. an now look at'em.
If ama would give the option of mag or no mag with a good price cut, they probably wouldn't have to worry about any competition ever.
$58 w/mag
$30 no/mag
Lets not forget there are those who DONT beleive Wall mart is the best thing on earth . Namely the former owners of all the small operations crushed by them

It has to be helping, RCKen RCU AMA forum moderator said it was:
"Ken: >>
Nathan,
I just got in the hotel from Top Gun where I had a very good conversation with Dave Mathewson about this forum. Dave and I have been in contact the last several months working towards a few things that will make this forum more valuable to both our members and the AMA. We both agreed to several things that we both think will be good. I''m not going to give out any details now as we still have to work those details out. But suffice it to say we will be moving towards making this thread more valuable to everyone. "

All AMA members should take note!

No doubt about that. Too many businesses from my small town were bankrupt in a couple years after Wal-Mart opened. It was sad to see.

Only if they are stupid enough to think that RCU's promotion of a competing organization is beneficial to the AMA. Read Mark Vigod's post below, saying the AMA would be decimated by a competing organization.

"When you consider the overhead of the AMA (magazine, property, staff, etc) this is a very lean way to run an insurance benefit company. At $20 the numbers do work. That was our price target. All you need to do is get like 20k to 30k people in and you are cooking. Then it's all gravy above that. Assume they capture just 50% of the AMA market in 5 years and they are doing really well and the AMA would literally start losing money and have to cut staff, infrastructure, magazine, etc just to stay afloat. The AMA could not take a 50% hit in business with their current structure."

Ok Mr. Huber. Why then is full member 58 an additional family 30 with no mag? Looks like they are charging 28 for mag any way you look at it. Straight from ama site prices
