New Speed (F3S) record, 400 kph+ at last...

In Germany official world record attempts are being flown this weekend. Saturday yielded 2new WR already...:

403.3 kph (or .8?) kph for electric models
380,7 kph for gas...

specially for Joe: Outrunner completely inside the fuselage of the Eisvogel speed...:
http://www.rc-network.de/forum/attac...8&d=1253994689

The previous electric WR of just below 400 kph(S.Penz) was apparently not recognized (yet?) due to "administrative" problems...This time should be ok.

And the speeds are up already today...:
383 and 424 kph (2-way average 2*200m)

Looks like no cooling at all? Not for ESC either?

Or is that a little circular opening around the back edge of the spinner to fuselage transition?

There are cooling holes on the side of the fuse. If you follow the other link, you'll see more pictures.

On the Chimare II (8th plane down on the link above)- is that an outrunner mounted outside the fuselage? And is the wing attached with cable or fiber of some kind? The ESC heatsink is exposed through a cutout in the nose- should be great for cooling, but, how big of a negative impact on speed? I can't read German, but it looks like it hit 167kmh? Is it typical to not use capitol letters in German?

It's an outrunner mounted outside, Ralph's own plane. Wing is attached with (strong) rubber bands!It did 266/272 kph. Ralph does not care about capital letters.He just participated for fun, was there to service his motors if/when needed, and was allowed to fly his plane (Raketenwurm F5F fuse/Shortened (1.45m) "Tabasco" F5F wing(foam+wood)) to test the measuring equipment every morning.

Use e.g. translate.google.com for translating words, texts and sites.

What would happen if Ralph Okon were to tune/build inrunners too?

Germans also use a capital for nouns:
the house -> das Haus
the table -> der Tisch
the water -> das Wasser

Vriendelijke groeten Ron

Ralph, why were motors in need of a repair? Encounters with terra firma or 'conflagrations'?

Prettig weekend Ron

they came in strongly contact with mother earth with more than 400km/h.

the models:

the YGE 240HV ESC also wasn't able to resist the crash

(fotos by kai koppenburg)
both motors have been repairable.
the esc not.
but for the "eagle" I just built a new and stronger version of 4235.
