My AeroCam quit working one day - thought I fried it. Like yours it would turn on but no record. On a whim I tried a different memory card - that was the problem.

Also, try formatting the card. But do it in the camera and not from a card reader.

Doctor FR4-Pilot, you're a genius! I put a different card in mine, and it came back to life! Now I'll try Randall's idea of formatting the first card and see if that works as well. At least I don't have to go through that 3-week wait again.

THANK YOU!!!
John

Hmmm... Embarrassing as it is, I guess I need a new memory card in my head. Upon further examination of the first card in the camera, I discovered it's full.

Yep, formatting the first card did the trick.

Poor old John

I know how you feel wingspan - I too was more upset about having to wait for another AeroCam than having to shell out the additional $$.

Glad it was just the card.

Well, the battery in my 808 cam died today. Will no longer take a charge. The LED just flashes and the cam turns off, no matter how long it's been charging via USB.

Figures, the first nice day in over a month for outdoor flying & videoing too.

It will take a charge if you use an external lipo charger.

I cycled my cam's lipo when I first got it to make sure it would take a full charge each time. I have a micro ht connector hanging out the case to do it.

I attached one on the fuse of my warmliner yesterday and got this vid. Early morning and not real clear out, but I liked it. Next time I hope to have even better results.

Thanks Nitro & GuyG.

I took it apart and was amazed to find even smaller screws holding the pcb to the enclosure ... where's my glasses?

Anyway, must have bumped some contact while inspecting as now it charges again. I didn't remove the battery (yet) as it's held with some pretty strong double-sided sticky stuff ...

Bummer is I missed two really nice days for flying and videoing. Oh well. I have all winter to monkey with this thing ... These cams seem to be similar to the Esky and Walkera helicopters (from what I've heard anyway) - kinda work good at first, but then require varying degrees of tinkering to keep them in the air

The only way to make the video smooth would be to replace the duplicate frame with one that was morphed using the non duplicated frames on both sides of the duplicate. If several frames were dropped and duplicated, the same number of morphed frames, stepped equally, would have to be inserted. Too much work to do manually. Not worth the effort on video shot with a $16 - $20 micro camera. If you need high quality video, there are more expensive options. The majority of us were drawn to these cameras to use on RC models. For the price these cameras do an excellent job.
Hi,

I'm also having annoying dropped frames that appear as a pink frame.
When the AVI is viewed in VLC player, the video does not appear to have dropped frames. When I import the AVI into Magix Movie Edit Pro 14, the pink frames appear at regular intervals like a "flash". The video is at 31 fps.

I'm trying to do a picture in picture video effect. One camera shooting forwards one shooting rear. Didn't get to this part yet. I'm stuck with the dropped frames. Sigh.

What is the best and easiest way to get rid of the dropped frames? I don't mind a bit of a jittery video.
I'm downloading Virtualdub to try it out.

I've noticed that the video from these cams doesn't like to be edited. The MJEPG format must rely on previous and post frames to define a current one. I tried cutting in the middle of one, then fading between the clips and got lots of flashing frames (some from the past, some from the future) during the transition.

Maybe converting the videos to an edit-friendly format - like DV - and editing those converted clips instead would work better.

My key chain camera mounted on an Old Timer model, a 1938 Rickardt Wing. Note shadow at the landing. I hope the link works, I don't know how to attach it directly.

That's interesting... must be some kind of variant, because true M-JPEG codec compresses each frame separately, indenpendent of frames before and after. I've gotten that kind of flickering transitions with H.264 encoded video if I don't make the cut on a Key frame, but never with the M-JPEG clips I've had. Or come to think of it, it might be an unusual .AVI container. I have one camera that put H.264 encoded video into an .AVI container format, and if I cut off the very first frame, the following video cannot be decoded. If I transcode it into a new .AVI file, again using the H.264 (or any orther) video codec, this is no longer the case.

My Vegas 7 would not accept the original AVI. I loaded it into QuickTime and saved it as a QuickTime movie and then Vegas accepted it. I can do all the editing that I want without any problems.
I also loaded the original AVI into VirtualDub and saved the file as a new AVI and an old AVI. Both loaded into Vegas. The original will only load the sound track.
