I'm going to try and make it. I've got plenty of DLG competition experience but this will be my first TD contest. Any chance I can get some coaching? Hope so!
I'll be flying the Psyko that Bob McGowan gave me (in pieces) and I brought back to life.
See you Sunday.

SBSS September TD Contest Results
We had a nice turnout for the contest with 11 fliers this month, and it is the week before Visalia! Thank you to everyone for coming out, and especially to Dave and Duncan who came down from Pleasanton (DVSS). This was Dave’s first TD contest - he had little winch experience, a second-hand rebuilt ship and while he was lonely in Open Fledgling, he turned in a great performance – watch out for this guy! Oh, and he brought his own timer who records times to 4 decimal places – not too shabby!
Then there is Duncan, who entered RES Sportsman for his first TD contest and makes 87% of goal - nice work! We hope to see more of our area brethren joining us in future. Nothing like new faces and planes to spark up the competition and fun.
I think the new landing pattern is working out well – I didn’t see that anyone had any trouble making a legal circuit to land.
The (thermal) weather looked suspect to me – same as last month but with zero wind, so I picked lower task times – same as last month. I think it was a good choice – scores were lower than August for the same planes and pilots.
Classes were Open (aka Unlimited) and RES with Expert (E), Sportsman (S) and Fledging (F) skill levels.
Here are the tasks:
Open E: 8, 10, 12
Open S: 6, 8, 10
Open F: 4, 6, 8
RES E: 8, 10, 10
RES S: 5, 7, 9
RES F: 4, 6, 8
We continue to use the one pop-off per round rule, 45-minute windows, and inflight choice of task order.
September 2009 Results:
Aaron Lewis 89% 1st
Bruce Lewis 95% 1st
Sean Worthington 87%
Bob Botha 71%
Marcin Hirny 55%
Rich Duder DNF
David Stark Open F 92% 1st
Bob Brown 81% 1st
Allen Strahm 18%
Duncan Knarr 87% 1st
John Dvorak DNF
(results are by % of perfect for class and skill level)

Bruce - thanks so much for CDing the contest and bringing out all the gear. Good turn out and it looks like the tide may be turning. Good call on the task times as the lift was challenging.
Duncan and DCS, good show guys. Duncans 2nd flight was really good, he worked a low level thermal for several minutes, and when it finally popped everybody ran over to poach his thermal. Dave's excitment is contagious ( much to Ann's dismay )
Allan and Bob .... see you guys in Visalia.
(the other ) Bruce
PS .... I really really like my Xplorer!
