If all else fails contact Robert at EJF.com.

We have done a number of Byron conversions, F-16, F-15, A4.

The A4 is a complete rebuild to use a Dynamax/Scorpion conversion, if there is enough interest I can post the rebuild on a thread.

There are a number of different ways to go.

Robert can help weight different options.

I think it is funny how he says in his video that he is going to be using the XPS system but it seems nobody is happy with that and are trying to change his mind???

Besides the Dynamax Xtreme fan system, we will be offering a simple bolt-in adapter for Byron aircraft. This lets you mount the Dynamax fan with the original bolt holes found in all Byron setups.

170mph may be a little wishful thinking but good luck on your build. I converted the Byron F-86.....great flying plane but they are not fast. As stated above pay attention to the tailfeathers.

Agreed. Top speed at 170 is going to be very hard to achieve. Bruff converted one and I think his did 130. Dont get me wrong TONS OF POWER, but not for speed. Nice work removeing the covering and old work. Looks much better, and starting from almost scratch makes it more of you own. Good Luck.

If he was using a Byron fan and Hacker Turbo I would agree with you guys, but with the Dynamax XPS Xtreme Scream and efflux over 270 mph, I think 160 is VERY do-able

This is true. Im pretty sure he was using the Byron/Hacker combo. I keep forgetting about the "new" stuff getting ready to hit the market. My wallet is already starting to quiver

The airframe is way to draggy to hit 170 with current EDF systems unless you dive it straight down. I would glass the wings I had problems with the wings warping on mine. The dynamax system would need to put out almost 2 times the power the EVF5612 puts out. 130mph looks great and fast enough its a huge airframe and thats a good scale speed. Even Pauls would do about 135 with Freds dynamax. To make this plane go even faster would take a whole lot more power.

Are you going to do intake ducting? If you want good speeds you will need proper ducting and then find a way to mount the nose gear so you would need a folding nose gear and design formers to hold it. I learned the hard way and it is what it is. Its a byron and its not worth retrofitting the whole aircraft just stick the fan in with an intake ring and fly with the cheater hole.I also had to drill 2 sets of holes on the spar to hold the wings on because the single screw would loosen up at high speeds. Make sure you dont have play in the stock aileron set up. If you do you might need to move the servos to the wings. Do you have the big yoke for the stab? I had the yoke on mine and loved it. Some people like using separate servos for it.
Good luck

it would be pretty tough to get a byron f-16 up to 170..its not the cleanest f-16 out there...and even if you could its probably not a good idea unless you completely reenginner all of the control surfaces and the fin.

I was just going to try to build the plane to handle 170mph not that it will go that fast. What do you all suggest I use for a non digital servos on the elevators?
