Manny actually has shims in his 4G3. The sick Blade CP has bearings for bushings. The head is solid with no play at all. Somehow the E-flite head design allows no dampners in the head and still has no vibs. Saw it in action again Saturday am. It is sick quick.

Thought I read about Kyle Stacy using all bearings in his Blade CP a while back. Manny is the man. I wish I was in Cali. You guys are lucky as I will be flying in below freezing temps again pretty soon. I remember stuffing my G into a snow bank and burried it last year. I got it like Christmas week. Getting the TX mitt this year though. I think the dampeners will last longer with the shims cus they do not get mashed as much. I cant wait to fly it Monday morning when I get up. I think we are going through motors cus the load has to be greater with a 16t pinion. All my motors bog with the 16t so I left one stock with the 12t. Still waiting on more plastic heads for the other G6.

Hi all,
My first posting to RC Groups, except for the test.

Introduce my 4G6/mod.
Replaced to HP08S+T14/XP-7A(Esc for HP06S/HP08S at Jade) mod, since the stock BL becomes extremely hot.

That result is very good.
Hovering times by normal ST mode(not 3D),
7 minutes by CJ 400mAh/20C batt, AUW 81.5g
10 minutes by stock batt 500mAh/15C, AUW 83.04g

About my mod for XP-7A.
This ESC can start up outrunner BL more smoothly than the stock.
But it doesn't work with 4G6/RX2609, since the level of the throttle signal is low.
I found the solution. It is simple and no cost.
Remove one pull-down resistor on the XP-7A PCA, it gets to work very well.
Refer to the attachment photos.

Thanks

very interessting, Tipstar!

I would love to see a video of how the HP08 starts up with the 7A.

and congrats to removing the resistor, this thing is so small, you almost need a microscope

xp-7a is great with the hp08 and the hp06 but i use spektrum gear and dont have a clue on combination with wk electronics.

hp08 is a way more better motor compared to wk inrunner. i will install it on the 4g6 when i receive my 4g6.

Thanks for your interesting, robZulu
Of course, I am using a glass type magnifier.
To remove is easy.
But..,,To make restore is impossible to me. LOL

I like the good efficiency of the outrunner BL.
However, there is a fault, too.
As Handle with care. of outrunner BL.
Never turn the blade by hand should not be quick.
Because of the lack of 4G6's tail gear teeth.

I look forward to your mod.

OK, I flew a pack this morning with the shimmed head. If I just scale or slow fly it I cannot notice a difference but if I fly it hard and make any sharp moves it is crisper. I can take it high and shoot it straight down and then yank the stick back and it shoots up and no tail boom strike. Plus I think the dampeners will last longer this way. I cannot believe nobody makes an aftermarket dampener for this heli.

Just until very recently I used shims on my 4g3 head to stiffen it up and did not say anything yet till I saw that it did work I really like to test stuff out really good before recommending anything. Its been 30 hard flights so far and the the dampers are holding great no change is stiffness yet so it looks very promising and the response is awesome. I did try different thickness washer that I found in my misc hardware left from other helis box. If the washer is too thick it will cause vibrations that I could not get rid of. I ended up finding thse small washers that were used in the SJM helis as step washers for bearings and they were perfect. I tried to look for them on his website and these have to be it its all that I found.

Actually the Blade Cp has the stock O rings with 10 shims to give it basically no play at all when you were talking to my brother what he said is that he heard some people running bearings not that we were running bearings. On the Blade cp ever since I have been running alot of shims in there I noticed the dampers will last a very long time I can remember the last time I changed them. I hope it will be the same with these smaller helis.

Were you running shims on the 2s 4g6 when I flew it? Did you add shims to them Now for next time

Yeah sure, You just want to keep all your secets to yourself so we dont show you up Just kidding. Thanks alot for the shim link. I will be ordering today.
The first heli I ever added extra shims to was my Blade Pro2. I modded it a little and it is sick for a brushed motor and the tail holds rock solid. The dampeners were getting destroyed. I cannot 3d so this is nothing like a Manny vid and the guy who works for me has shaky hands so WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK-> http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1088320

Yeah I searched everywhere on all the parts for the SJM helis and those are the only shims I found and they look like the small ones on the picture so I am almost 100% sure those have to be it. What sims did you use on yours?

On a stock Blade Pro 2 I would start with 3 shims per side totall 6. I run 10 total on mine but my headspeed is way higher than stock so try that if you dont get a wobble put one more on each side if you do take one off each side but remember the tighter the head dampning the longer the dampers will last.

7 to 10 mins? thats hard to beleive!?

Thanks bro. I was only using 2 shims per side on my Pro2 but I cannot 3D.
I used some washers from my Trex 250 on my G6. Not sure what part # but they were in with the tail parts. I like the SJM washers you linked plus I might be able to use the bigger ones for shims for something else.

He did say hover time in normal mode, since getting mine a few grams lighter I'm seeing similar times with the -03 motor + 14t pinion. That's only a few minutes shorter than the 4G3.

Of cource when trying to accellerate the extra weight on the G6 eats more power so times drop considerably.
