Glad to hear your knee is doing better! My son is going in for his knee surgery on Thursday.
Looks like it is a cyst associated with the Patella Bursa.

Do you guys have a schedule of when you or other Arizonians are flying? I might come down this spring and it would be great to check out some DLG action or fly sometime.

Thanks,
Jeremy

No set schedule - but there are several of us there on most Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Weds afternoons. But DLG'ers will just show up when ever they have cycles and the weather is decent.

For competitions check under the handlaunch forum.

Here's the next competition on Feb-27th:

This event is in Tucson, but the Phoenix people fly weekly at Chandler Bowl (Thude Park)

Good job at the bowl today, Lee. Sorry you had troubles with the plane. Consider that these are high-performance machines, and like a Ferrari, they need proper and frequent maintenance to keep them in peak condition. Or in my case, it's a clapped out "bomber racer", and still needs constant service just to keep it running.

Despite my lack of flying skill, I'm starting to wonder about a new DLG. Obviously, the Blaster II flies really well, and you guys have figured out how to modify and fix them effectively, so that "might" be a good idea for me, though I was wondering about bagged-wing planes in the same $ range as the Blaster II. Are there any that fly as well? It seems that any of the bagged planes that perform like the good moldies carry similar price tags. Also, I don't want to be a guinea pig for the new moldies like ASK's new planes. Any suggestions?

Hi Tim,

There are bagged wing DLG's available that cost the same as the Blaster2 but most of them do not perform as well. I will say that they are generally tougher for the most part though. Dirk had a Sidewinder (IIRC) that was very similar to the DLG that Lee was throwing today but in new condition it is lighter and flies better. I think it was around $300ish but Dirk will have to give the details. Really, it looks like a used Vandal if there were any decent ones around or maybe a used Taboo? I would think you could get one for around $300-$500 ready to add receiver and fly depending on what kind of shape they were in.

The SideWinder II is now out of production as is the XP series, so you only have a few main-stream bagged choices left.

Vandal
Taboo
LightHawk
LightSpeed (can't comment on the new Blade & Razor coming out)

I have a Vadal in the box, but would be hard-pressed to let it go since it performs so well and took 1-year to get.

One plane we've never paid much attention to at the bowl is the FireWorks moldies. They do have a following that loves these planes, and they run from $489-$649.

See: http://www.soaringusa.com/products/s...ategory_id=294

I've always wanted to pick up the 2-meter Xtend (no NOT a male enhancement product)

Aaaa, the Sidewinder II. I still think for a bagged wing, it is the "best bang for your buck" DLG.

Build it light, use D47's all around, carefully face the aileron hing, toss the peg and use a blade, and it will fly beautifully. The fuselage is nice and roomy. Takes a beating, and keeps on going, especially with newest wing construction. With a little creativity, you can ballast it up under the wing easily.

I am not sure if it is out of production. I checked PoleCat and they still have it listed as for sale. Someone needs to contact Polecat and verify.

But Carlsoti has my original SWII wing (donated for the cause), so I he knows what it's like. I know it looks flimsy, compared to a Kevlar bagged wing, but it isn't.

I checked last night when someone asked, and the SideWinder II link is still on the front page. But if you click the link, it says:

"The Sidewinder II is currently not in production – please check back later!"

The LapDancer is also out of production, so it looks like PoleCat is just selling sailplanes now.

I didn't see that when I quickly glanced at the page.

The reflective tape is in, and it looks gooood. Nice and thin George, so you'll probably like it on the DLG wings.

The black onyx snakeskin almost looks cf black when not in the sunlight, then lights up with a holographic effect when hit by sun.
