Thumb Wing Glider - Alula-ish DIY Glider

Hello guys,
I just thought I should share the glider i'm building, based on Alula, I owned one but it's almost ready to retire, and I dont want to spend another $80+ for a new one. I thought of making one out of foam and parts laying around to save cost. So, let's just call this one a "Thumb Wing" Glider, If you know what Alula means, you know what a thumb wing is. I thought of making a SAL (non powered), and Electric version.

Uploaded are drawings, templates and some photos... I'll be uploading more and keep you guys posted of the progress.

Tell me what you guys think.

Rcpinoy, nice job on the illustrations. I was obsessed with alula clones for a while. You'll find my info here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=627593

My first one was a sloppy build, but flew great. My second one was a precision build (for me anyway) and flew like crap. The issue, which I never resolved, was extreme vibration on the elevons at high speeds, which severely limited the launch. I even replaced the elevons with stiff balsa - no improvement.

I've since moved onto other things. Best of luck to you and your project! I'll be checking back to see your progress!

rcpinoy, nice re-design. Did you make an airfoil for the wing?

Well in the 3d model it looks like its part of the fuse, sandwiched in between the outer layers of the fuse.

Cool! I like the paint job. Are you going to launch it SAL or by a bungee or by some other method?
