Rudi i would really maiden it on snow... its a loteasier to get her off than off water and there will be no need to "pull" her off if the step doesn`t provide proper water seperation.

Hello MB,

no chance because I hate when it is freezing outside and I should fly a new model. No, no I have no hurry. Can you help me with the CG. P.Angus draw at 26 % MAC from the root ? Does it mean that if the root is apr. 100mm that the CG is at 26 mm ?

Many thx

Rudi

Well done Rudi.

This link might be of use to you. Generally the CG is 1/2 inch forward of step.

Rudi have alook here how to construct the MAC. you will need to draw it into your plans as your wing is tapered and not a straight wing to construct it. http://www.lferc.com/Tips/mean_aerodynamic_chord.php

Hi Rudi,

No doubt about it, "The finest Sunderland ever seen !"

For what it's worth, my C/G is 20% of the root chord at the fuselage side, and she flys ok, the only thing I have problems with is the pitch couple with power changing up and down, as I reduce power on approach the nose comes up, not the ideal sense. Good luck when ever you chose to fly her, if it were me I would fly off the snow or grass, but it's for you to choose.
Cheers,

regards to all, Al

eps I did hear that Von Smallhausen escaped the Gulf and is somewhere in Europe, take care of those U boots mate

Why all this CG controvercy?

My plans clearly state 3.2" aft of the bodyside LE. This is 25%MAC, and 30% of bodyside chord.

My original has impeccable flying manners, so it would be wise to follow suit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The balsa original, flown in 1996, with can motors and NiCads, weighed 64oz. Currently, with b'less and lipos, its weight is 54oz. Rudi's model weighs just half of that, and it's waterproof! Real progress!!. [I am now stocking up with Depron]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rudi......we are all waiting impatiently for the good news next January.

Hello Peter ,

no CG Discussion. I will use your information exact as it is drwan in your plans but for my sorrow I have to announce that
in my documents only the drawings with the 26 % MAC infois aviable So the CG is 3,2" (3,2 x 2,54 = 8,128 cm) from the LE back, correct ?
January is far to early. I will wait till we can swimm again in our beautiful lakes again because I have no boat in case I have to rescure the model
Now I have programmed my TX and I have to make a testrun in our small fish water near our house. Hope that the hull have no leak Will make a small video of that issue .

Hi Guys,

fixed the floaters and the cockpit windows. Now the Sunderland is ready for the maiden. CG is exact at 8,128 cm or 3,2 " with 2S1800 mAh or 2200 mAh Lipo without and need of ply
