P-51 Mustang Squadron Markings Reference Thread
Hello Folks!!
At the request of many in the Parkzone brushless BNF "Gunfighter" thread, I thought I'd make a special thread of as many P-51 paint schemes as possible. My personal recommendation for having any decals done is to go with Callie Graphics. She has done decals for 4 planes in my "hanger". Two are finished, one is going to a museum. The other two are being finished soon. They look fantastic! If you want clean, smooth, great fitting decals that give you a very scale appearance, have Callie do them. She was recommended to me by the famous J. Morgan (master model builder). http://www.callie-graphics.com/ How this will work is that I'm in control of it's posts, to keep it on track. If you have additions to the thread, you can e-mail them to me at derik352@gmail.com (subject line- "P-51 paint schemes"), and I will gladly add them. For the moment just to get things rolling, these are side profile artist's renditions in color. These are P-51s from the European Theater. There is still plenty more to be added just to the ETO series. There will also be Pacific Theater and Reno Racer schemes added soon. Other possible additions will be Korean War era Mustangs. This thread will take a while to complete, but I think "complete" is an inaccurate word as new pics are popping out of attics and dusty old boxes everywhere. It will continue to grow...... hopefully. Note: Some posts have duplicate profiles, and I decided to do that in case one comes out more clearer or shows something that the other didn't. In some cases I just had them in my files and threw them in any way. NOTE: If you don't see the plane you're looking for under it's Fighter Group listing, check the post called "Mixed Bag". I kinda had to just throw a bunch in there. Trying to sort them all out, and not duplicate them takes longer than I have time for. If you don't see the one you're looking for contact me. I'll see what I can do. Some of these came from various websites. Most noted is a BIG "THANK YOU" to Peter Randall of the Little Friends website. His site is a treasure trove of information. Please visit his site and make a donation to keep him up and running. http://www.littlefriends.co.uk/ I go to his site daily and spend countless hours researching. By far the best WWII American Aviation site around. Enjoy!!!!! |
