I just can not resist shooting Hobby Lobby’s new Giant Scale Waco. My wife and I were walking in the crowd looking for people shots and I had my ‘short’ lens on the camera. I had to run back to my van for my telephoto for me to get these shots.

Sunday at NEAT
As I left the Cortland, NY area on Sunday on my way for the last day of the NEAT Fair it was so foggy that I was not able to drive more than 40 MPH on interstate 81 Southbound. I was especially concerned as I packed a plane of my own to fly. I checked the weather report and it read clearing. Could the forecasters be wrong? As I drove further south the fog lifted to just above the highway and eventually turned to cloud cover. OK, I over reacted.
Upon arrival at the NEAT Fair it was still overcast but I knew clear skies were only about 20 miles behind me and prepared for another awesome day of RC Flying. I spent the first hour chewing the fat with some of my new acquaintances and my flying event/online buddy Dave (RCGroups user name Yellowspider) I than went and setup the plane I had brought in hopes of finding some time to get a flight in. The photos in this panel are of 3 of the Full scale planes that landed around 10:00 AM. They parked at the extreme end of the field closest to the Park Flyer Area and allowed people to look at their planes close up. |

I got my plane setup and moved it over to the Hobby Lobby tent for display and setout with camera in hand to get to work. Before I could get a single shot in it dawned on me that I most likely would not get another chance to shoot my plane on such a beautiful day like this one. I rushed over to the tent ware the Landis’s were and asked Dan if he would be willing to give her a spin around the park. He agreed and here are the photos.
This is the ¼ scale Green Models Gee Bee Senior Sporster model Y marketed by Hobby Lobby. 1/4 Scale Gee Bee Y 84.6 inch wingspan. I powered this fine ARF with a HXT 63-74 200kv Brushless Outrunner, Castle Creations 110 HV ESC, 2 6S 5000 Mah 25C Lipo in series making a 12S pack and Master Airscrew 20 X 10 Classic prop. Amp draw at ROG is 71 Amps making 3150 Watts at the input of the ESC. Last edited by datazman; Sep 21, 2009 at 01:24 PM. |

Paul,
That is one beauty! Great to have chatted with you too... (I was the one that demo'd the CMPro Zero). Excellent pictures too! I also learned a little from some of your picture-taking tricks! Thanks! Tom |

Tom:
I enjoyed meeting and chatting with you as well. Making new friends is what NEAT is all about in my opinion. I love your Zero, Thinking one for myself. My Gee Bee is my favorite model right now and she flies very predictably. Thank you for the kind words concerning my photography and I am glad you got something out of my photography knowledge. Hi Paul,
That's a real beauty you got there!!! Was this the first time she was airborne? BTW, thanks for posting the pictures of my B-17 - like all your pictures they came out beautiful. I'm really sorry I didn't get to meet you again on Sunday, but after freezing for a while on Sat. night, I decided to pack up and go home. Would it be possible for you to send me the large images so I can set them as backgrounds for my computer? Again, pleasure meeting you!!! Lubo |

Doc-e:
Thank you for the compliment about my Gee Bee, it was her 3rd flight. I am delighted you like the shots of the B-17. I did not have a chance to take notes on it so could you tell us the run down on it? Drop me a PM with your email address and I will get the photos off as soon as I can. It may take a day or two but I will get them to you. Paul |
