Here are a couple photos that Rick sent today to show all that Project 641 Foxtrot is proceeding full ahead.
He discovered that the working plans included in our file contained a few inaccuracies when compared to the reference photos, with the worst problems found in the stern sectionals. The master will be corrected based on the photo below. Stay tuned... more photos to come in a few days. |

Project 641 Update
Here's an update from the weekend's work. I am amazed at the speed in which Rick is progressing on the build.
Someone earlier on SP stated it looked like a "long skinny turd" & that does bear some resemblance in the first photo showing the plug sitting in the cradle used for building the Kilo. More to come... |

Rick sent in several test shots as he starts on the hull plating & oil canning.
Once again these are initial test shots to get an idea on how best to replicate the actual plating of the Foxtrot. Final detail photos will be forthcoming once he is satisfied with the look. |

Here's one showing the difference between the Fox & Kilo.
I like that retro look compared to the Kilo's larger streamlined hull.

Chased a couple of foxtrots (scared/annoyed one to the surface after he listened to our sonar banging away for fifteen hours). Never really got a good look at them.

Pretty much. I believe the Kilo is actually 1/73 but then I don't go around carrying calibers & a tape.
