Your the reason I got the motor. I just got my castle ice lite 100. All that leaves is the plane and servos and I will be in business. I will order them together from 3dhs. I am going with the HS-5245mg digital. I will order that sometime within the next two months and have the plane ready to fly for next year.

Well there you have it! You'll love it. Trust me on this. Be sure to set fixed end points instead of using auto calibration. I also needed to modify my throttle curve a little bit but once I got those two things dialed in it's been pure bliss ever since!!

A40-10S is 750kv A40-12S is 610kv.
With the -10s you'll probably want to start with a 14x7. A 15x7 will put you over 1200watts
A -12s and a 15x8 put you just above 800 watts on 4S.

So, I'm a little confused. What is better for 80/20 3D/ Sport? I see recommendations for the 10s w 15x7? I will put it on a watt meter. I assume running too many watts will blow the motor. I have 14x7and a wooden 15x7 on the way. We'll see what my combo pulls. Thanks.

technically, pulling too many amps will cook(not blow) the motor... i dont know how much watts you have to pull to blow motor...

my input against 10 vs 12... in summer, 12s gets freakishly hot for me, 4s 4000, and i pull around 60A at 800-900w... is you are used to 3:1 power ratio, dont buy that motor, you will not be happy, but other than that, power is adequate...

well if im cooking 6xxkv motor on 15x7, i have no wish to even try 7xxkv motor on the same size...

My A40-12S + APC-E 15x8 on 4S gets fairly warm bordering on hot in summer. Not to hot that I cant hold a finger on it for 10sec though. If you run the recommended A40-10S make sure you check those watts!! 14x7 will be 1000+. Give it time to cool between flights. If I had to do it over again I'd use the Motrolfly 4315-714. That motor is wider and shorter leading to less heat soak. The other option is to get some very light balsa or depron and make the cooling holes in the cowl on each side of the ducted to channel air over the motor.

Where are you guys flying in summer? I'm in New England so it's not crazy hot (90s max)! 3D doesn't have the Hacker -10s in stock right now. Is anyone running the motrolfly 4315-714 with an 80A esc? I have apc 14x7, master airscrew 14x8 and a pro tek 15x7. Curious what kind of Amps it will pull with a good 4s 2200-4000? Guessing 65+

80amp will be a little low for 4S. At least that is my experience with a 15" prop.

Aero-Model is the distributor for the Hacker Motors, and may have them in stock, That said, the Motrolfly is a much better motor power-wise, but at this time, Ken is out of stock on them also...

I'm pulling 80-82A on a 15x7 Xoar on just a Zippy 4S 4000 20C.

ICE 100 Lite is a good choice for ESC for this one.

You guys have bought all "my" motors! Snow is coming!

Ok. Don't really want another esc. Just bought the 80amp. Guess I'll wait on the hacker 10s to come in. 3 D said it should have the same thrust to weight that I have on my 48" edge and that's fine for me.
