Sorry, another question. Where do you all get your standoffs from.

Just tried test mounting the motor and getting the placement for the cowl before I tightened it all down.

Appears I now need approx 10mm long standoffs with a 4mm inside diameter to get the proper spacing so the cowl fits in the corect place.

If nothing else, this plane is teaching me all the little extras I needed and hopefully where to get them from

I've got a bunch of nylon/plastic standoffs from my 60" Extra that I have no use for. I think they are 4mm shaft size, and a couple different lengths. If you want them, PM me your address and I'll mail them to you.

EEK! Just noticed you're in Oz.... That might be more expensive to post than it would be worth..

Thanks for the offer but that's the problem being down here in Oz, it's virtually impossible to find standoffs and prop inserts down here. My building has come to standstill until I can source some.

That's why if I can find somewhere that sells them then I can order a large quantity of different sizes that I know I will need sometime in the future anyway.

Yeah, you definitely want to buy in bulk down there. Have you tried a hardware store? Never know what you can find to "engineer" stuff together..

I agree with the hardware store. Suprising what you can find in the little slide out drawers. I too am a machinist, even a small shop in garage and I still check the hardware store first. I have been making things for the buds at the field for a while, popular item for the SC is way oversized aluminum washers for the SFG's. An 8x10 bushing may be a standard item in a big catalog like McMaster Carr. Bushings and standoffs should be easy to find. Good luck!

Anyone have any (Good) used CF LG for the 57 SC?

I caught a hole yesterday on a grass field and it twisted out my right leg at the pant. Split the layers.

PM if you do, I need it by this Friday, got another big Fly event in WV.

Otherwise I am ordering new LG today...

Mate,
I just used some 12mm square pine strip and cut some 15mm pieces. Drilled holes through them and mounted so the pre-machined 12mm thickness was on the mount side so as not to screw with the thrust angles etc.

Has worked really well, just don't over tighten onto the pine spacers or you will crush the pine standoffs.

Alternative is just to cut some 15mm dowl hardwood to size and drill through the centre. Problem with that is you need to pretty sure of the lengths or you alter the thrust angle.

Hey Bro,
I landed mine hard the other day (frickin ccreations hard cut off in hover) and broke the bottom out of the plane but Im pretty sure the gear was intact. I understand the timelyness of the parts for shows and I have nothing going on for two weeks. If it would help I can send you mine to get you on the solid for the show. LMK

Doylestown Fall FunFly vid

Had a good day at D'Town yesterday. Shot vid of last flight of the 57.

Damaged that gear on the second landing, catching the right wheel and flipping over. Then on this one, tried to slow up and Harrier Plop so I would have short roll and not flip over again, but caught a little wind puff on the left side and more like Dropped it.

Other than that the flight was decent.

57 SC @ Doylestown Fall FunFly 2012 (4 min 29 sec)
