It's better to try http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9364
flightmax is a little more expensive but gives more current than the same turnigy and they are lighter. Flightmax 4000mah is also lighter than rhino 3700. I've bought many of them for my helis and flightmax always win

kstmark - thanks for the feedback, I have used the flightmax 2200 3c in my 47" edge with good results but was unsure about the bigger batteries.

Servos

OK... I decided on getting this plane... will be my first built up electric and I'm looking forward to doing some mad IMAC and 3D with it. I think I'm also gonna grab a 70" Slick cause I just can't decide betweent the two

My background... lotsa heli flying and GS IMAC... up to Advanced class, though I've been mainly flying helis recently due to no GS friendly fields locally since my last move.

I already have 8 x 6S 2600-3000mAh packs... gonna use those.

Anyway.. here's what I'm thinking:

Scorpion 4020-16 (415kV)
-Any better 6S motors? Weighs 10.7 ozs, but I heard people were adding 3 ozs ballast w/ the 7ozs motors.

Vox 15x7 Prop

CC Ice-
-Lite? 75 or 100?

Servos: HS-225MG, HS-5245, or JR 3517
-Any inputs here? Is there any difference going digi on this plane or am I better off staying with the cheaper analogs to keep BEC current down? Snaps, etc... good w/ the analogs?

Let me know what you think and anything you'd change!

Thanks!

Sillyness,

Go with the digital servos. I am running the 5245s and DS-16s on mine and like it really well. I am also running an ICE 100, it is over kill, but the little extra weight is not an issue.

Have you tried the 225MGs?

Which 100... the Lite or the regular w/ the heatsink?

I have used the 225s in the past and they are fine, but the 5245s are a little better.

I’m running the ICE 100 regular

I got out this morning and put the first 3 flights on my extra! Wow, is this ever a nice flying plane. I took off, made two 90 deg turns and was immediately comfortable with how it flew. I even did a rolling loop on the first flight. The only issue I had was the ESC lost timing with the motor once but it was a non event.

Setup:

GR-60
14x8.5 APCe
ICE 100
3 DS-16s and 1 HS-5245
Spektrum 6200

Those of you who are using the ICE controllers and the GR-60 what settings are you using? I need to get this timing issue ironed out so I can start playing around down low.

On the 60XL (not the same, obviously) I'm using LOW timing and an acceleration value of 3 or 4 on Castle ESCs. Maybe that info will help.

Congrats, BTW!

Thanks Ben, I’ll try changing the acceleration value. Mine is set pretty high.

That’s right I only have one 5245 on the elevator. The other 3 servos are the Hyperion DS-16s. The DS-16s are less expensive and I am on a budget so I decided to try them out. So far I like them, but with only three flights it is too early to pass judgment. The 5245s are really nice and if I had the money I would have used them all around.
