Im using these packs with the GR-60. No problems, 5~6 min flights. About 2500~2800 mAh used.

20C has been plenty for me, your mileage may vary. The 3600 Zippy packs I have are no longer available but I've used a variety of Flightmax and Turnigy packs in other sizes that have been great for me. Personally, I'd go for something like this:

I think the 30C Turnigy and the Rhino 25C 3700 would also be a good choice. Hope that helps-

What would be a power and efficient setup for this thing on these packs? Would I be better with the 51" Slick or is this the ticket?

FWIW... I am an adept airplane 3D pilot too... I have a 100cc 3D machine, but getting sick of carrying it.

FWIW I did search the thread, but found scattered 6S info and no testamonials from anyone who had been flying it much.

Those packs would definately fly this airplane quite well.......probably better so than the 51" Slick which really is a better 4s flyer.

As to motor setups you would need a motor in the about the 500 KV area and a solid 14" to 15" prop with a solid 60A-80A ESC.

Those packs look good, but 20 x 3.6 = 72, which is under what the ESC is capable of dealing with. I usually like to match that.

Hrmm. Price is darn good though...

which is exactly why I went with 30C. I bench tested the GR-60 on a 15X7 and got 97 amps. Those 20C's would be hurtin.

Much depends on your left thumb, a 20C battery can handle bursts well above the continuous rating. The vast majority of my 4S batteries from 2100 up to 3600 are 20C and they work well for me. With 3S I find that I want at least 25C. With 6S even 15C is working well for me. Again, YMMV

Well, I'd be mainly sport-flying the bird, so fast is the name of the game. So yeah probably gonna want higher C rating.

In that case I might go with a little more capacity for longer flight time:

The Turnigy packs have been good for me in other sizes.

I think if you put 5s in the SC it would be stupid fast. The 55" SHP was heavier, but on 5s the thing was just downright scarey overpowered as faster than most of the nitro planes at my club field.

If you want your SC to streak, put 5s in it.

I think for 3D, the SC is a much better plane than the SHP, simply because the power to weight ratio is much better suited for alpha flight. Dropping down to 4s on an SHP would get you closer, but the SC still has a lighter airframe, lighter power system, one less servo with linkage, and more wing.

I haven't weighed mine, but it is much, much lighter than my 5s SHP. Anyone know the difference in weight? I've seen a few people claim their SC is right at 4lbs.

The SC might be very similar in shape, size and construction to the SHP, but in execution it is a completely different airplane. For those who may have missed it, please check out my EXTRA SC Blog Report.
