BTW Jeff - great thread, build looks great. Hopefully the weather holds out so you can fly it tomorrow. If it's not raining, I'll be down there about 8am.
Very cool Tyler! Awesome job.

I didn't exactly get the SC ready for tomorrow. Ran into a delay of game when it became time for dinner and spending time with my lovely wife.

But I will pick it up again tomorrow hopefully after we get a little flying in.

See ya in the morning.

Any one else fly the SC with a GR60? If so, how do you like it?

Nice! I am going to continue the build here in about an hour... Had a fun morning flying, and now it's time to get back to the build.

Elevator

Again 3DHS has taken the pain out of installing the horizontal stab and elevator. Just be sure to follow the instructions and you will have a nice straight elevator.

Note: Do not cut covering from center of horizontal stab for installation. It has been proven that thin CA will form a permanent bond to the stab covering and fuselage structure. Removing the covering will only weaken the stab.

Motor Installation

I decided to go with the Reaper GR45. I really prefer the feel of lighter loaded 3D airplanes, the 57" SC is a perfect candidate for a light set-up.

If you decided to go with a "smaller" more compact motor like the GR45, it looks to be necessary to provide your own spacers. I found some great little .25" aluminum spacers at the local ACE Hardware store. (Pictured below)

-Jeff

EDIT-
After fitting cowling I found it may be necessary to add longer spacers (.5"??) if you are using the GR45 (see picture on page 12 of the manual) in order to get the paint lines on the cowling to match up. With that said, I am still happy with my cowling fit on the SC.

With each installment of your build, I am wanting this acft more. Foam at ESC is a good idea. I have seen it used too at points of potential wire chaffing/rubbing.

Very good suggestion! I was waiting to tie up the ESC/motor wires until I tested motor direction. When the times comes I will secure the wires with some foam chafe protection... Thanks GB!

Ok guys.. here's my maiden fight with the 57" SC. This plane is totally cool. Very agile, yet light on its wings.
