Wind was calm enough for a few packs before sundown, hatcam was out for a couple of those flights. It's just fun nonsense, apparently this plane is bringing out my old favorite hotdogging maneuver of busting through low to pull up into a short upline to violent tumble. It does allow an amazing amount of tumble control, manage the throttle properly and you can hang there for a long time. Methinks it's about the best tumbler I've seen, I like how it presents them.
Anyways, it's all in the vid. It's in HD if you want to click through to Vimeo...
...as video is showing, the Scorpion SII-3026-710 and 14x7 prop is providing an absolute ton of off-the-line thrust and a surprising amount of horizontal boogy. I could prolly extend flights even further with another propping down, but the current flight of 7 minutes per pack is great as it is (4S 4000). I'm super happy with how this plane is flying. |

![]() ...this plane has actually tagged a tree. Loud "thwack" as I struck a tree coming back up the vertical on a rolling loop. A half inch cut under the wing was happily the only evidence of the incident though. |
