Just finished my build and weighed in at 4 lbs 8 oz's. Using a PA Thrust 50 with 2x Flightmax 25c 2200's. Cannister on the motor is kind of long so no spinner. I rarely use one anyway but I wish I could have for this. All recommended equipment except for the motor. No wheelpants. Those might go on after maiden this weekend. Thank you Ben, Scott, and 3DH crew for I think the nicest plane and build yet. Course I think I said that about the last one.

15x8 is better than 14x7, but still too much power. Perhaps I should take the gr-45 from my 55" edge and try it out.

First flight went great!

All I can say is WOW!

It was a bit windy here in Phoenix, but I was too eager for the maiden. My buddy and I went out to the field, Sun Valley Fliers, and the wind was right down the runway at around 10, gusting to 14 (or so the nifty new weather station said). Did a quick flight control check and she was airborne! Very light flying plane, way overpowered, and a real beauty in the air. Thanks Ben and Scott and all the 3DHS folks!

I followed the directions and didn't need to touch the trim. The CG was neutral. She flew hands off inverted, so I let her rip! Full power snaps, blenders, really flat spins. Amazing airplane!

(1821 ma back into my Hyperion G3 4S 4000 after 5 minutes of high powered flying. Should be able to get 7 fun filled minutes next time!)

Here's a few shots of my new favorite bird (Until I get the 70" flying...).

Enjoy,

Thank you Rob!

I can't imagine how much work went into dreaming up this bird and then making it a reality. It's a work of art and the build instructions are spot on! Makes it real EZ for novice builders like myself.

Fly safe,

Thanks guys!

And as for you Pootman...THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! Lol

Pootman got me into RC back in Santa Barbara 10 years ago with gliders on the beach. He has built lotsa' planes for me and answered hundreds of questions too. What a guy!

Just about everything has gotten in the way of getting my SC started, but it's finally under construction. I've rushed building so many planes lately that it hasn't been any fun, so I'm just going to take my time and relish the process a little bit.

I am flying on Turnigy 4S 3000 30c packs and I have my timer set to 5:30 and come down with about 20% left on the pack with my GR-45 and a Turnigy 14x8 prop. The power has been really good though, 67 amps 1170 watts. My 55" SHP with the Torque and 5S setup is getting 1250 watts, but it feels like a whole lot more power, maybe it's the bigger prop, heh.

My Turnigy 30C 3000 sits 3" shy of the firewall, so I may order a 2650 to see just how floaty I can go….

Congrats to Ben and Scott for an awesome design! Thanks Jeff for the great build log!

Nice job Larry, I'm bummed that I missed the maiden! We will have to get the SC's up sometime soon! So when are you getting your 70" Slick??? Remember, bigger flies better

You're in for a real treat when it's done. I can't say enough great things about this plane.
