started building mine.

This is the first time my stab doesnt line up perfectly from the box. Guess putting in some card stock as a shim as in the IPS motor videos is the right thing to do ?

Also i am a little worried about the gap i have on one side. Dont want the stab to come loose or something. Any thoughts

or should i just not be such a sissy and glue it together

thanks

Mike

I would use the card stock to level the stab to the wing spare, but if you have some major gaps some polyurethane glue (gorilla glue) should work great. Just be careful it expands and wouldn't want it to look sloppy.

Mike,

Glue with CA and be done with it. It will work fine and you won't have any issues.

I had some guys at the field that were questioning my method of CA'ing the stab in without removing the covering first. I just asked them if they thought they could take the stab out, without destroying it, if they needed to take it out? They all replied "no". That's how I look at it - if I wanted to take it out there's no way.

I have some gliders that have the horizontal stabs slide in on tubes, and don't even have anything securing them. I was leary about it at first, but one of them is 30+ years old and is still going strong. I don't think that there is much force pulling the stab sideways in the air.

The only substantial side load on a horizontal stab I know of is "ground induced".

Right about 3:50 in the video...

Mike,
you'll fine with the shim. I do it all the time. You can fill in the gap with some thick ca and then hit with accelarator.

I just got a Turnigy C5045-890kv for Christmas for this plane. I plan to use the Turnigy Brushless ESC 85A w/ 4A SBEC also. I have had great luck with their motors and ESC so far.

How do I check if the bells are balanced and the magnets are tight? I never had a issue befroe, but this is the biggest Turnigy I have ever used.

motor good with 5s and of course what prop size?

Thanks
Steve

4s-4000 = 14.22 oz
5s-3300 = 15.82 oz ........... hyperions cx's

Merry Christmas
Question, Keep in mind I have 4ea 5s-3300 hyperions,
if I go with the gr45 that looks like the hot setup
and lower my throttle curve 75% or whatever it needs?
I'm thinking it may work well, or get the Torque 4016-T500 on 15x7-16x8 on 5S.
