Thanks Kmot... I really hope so ..the motor's turn about 3600-5000rpm ..they have gob's of torque
I'll see how she handles the 3 blade prop's ..if all is well I'll switch out for the same style only 4 blade , maybe 5 blade ..

Churn and burn

Here's some shots of the greaser I use to lube my tube's ..I got it from a Stihl chainsaw dealer years ago to lubricate the hammer's in my impact gun ..

I fill it with white grease for the boats ..easily shoots grease in the tube with little pressure ..Its just a little pusher pumper

A little more progress.. the lower superstructure .. untill my leds show up I cant put the roof on ..

The build here differ's from the plan ..the 1/8 ply supplied was lame and when wetted to bend the veneer began to lift and the grain raised everywhere ..So i swapped it out with 1/16 Midwest ply ..really made a difference in bending around the front of the structure. I used the 1/8 ply to bolster the aft bulkhead ....approx 2 inches ..thats all ..

the wheel house, mast ,funnel are next again pending the leds.

Thanks Kmot..

The water intake for the fire monitor is fabbed ..as per Umi's suggestion. The screen is stainless ..from an aerator out of a facet ..$3 at Crappy Tire for the whole assembly ..It should be noted that Stainless steel cannot be soldered .but one can sink it in a pool of molten solder ...it was all i could find..
I used two grommets ..the idea is i will obtain two beads of epoxy to seal the joint ..i do plan to use an extra piece of ply-wood to add some strength against the hull ..
I also lightly tapped the inside collar ( short one) to bring it out-off-round ...this allows the two pieces to be pressed tightly and need not be clamped ..just a little interference fit .. I have an extra piece of tube same I'D' as the sleeve to push it down

Anybody remember the thread where the builder made his own ladder's ?..think it was a Model Slippway's kit and it was a tug ...really like to see that again ..

That's a lot of work and bother just for a water intake isn't it?? Or is it supposed to be a scale looking and working thing?

Heck, it if were me I would just have used any old water cooling style pickup. And if worried about detritus in the incoming water I would simply install an inline filter in the silicone tubing.

Hi Tom .. yes and no on the bother ..I do want it to look right or at least semi- to what it should look like ....I have a windshield washer pump to make for a working monitor

A few years ago i sacked the hobby store they had K&S Engineering bags (4 of them ) on the shelf, loaded with end cuts and shapes .... each bag was 8 bones ..so for 32 bones i got about 5 pound of brass and aluminium stuff.. i have a ton of loose stuff floating around..

To tell you the truth Tom for what it is i had figured on using just a regular fuel filter from Wall-mart ..or pillaging the one from my lawn mower..It about as big around as a quater ..maybe a tad bigger ..

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...1574_200271574

Everything said and done it took less than 10 minutes to whip one together ..

If I hadnt asked permission and wasnt so picky years ago ..I would be spinning these out on a lathe ...

I thought about doing one "right", haven't gotten around to it yet!
Real water pick-ups are "sea chests"... basically a boxed in space over a hole in the hull, and the hole is covered with a grating (imagine a storm sewer grating; keeps the tuna out).

Here's one:
