Ya, it's handles real well. It's very touchy, but as long as I move it very slow, it is very stable.

I did crash it twice (once into the cat), so hopefully i didn't do anything bad.

NEVER, ever order ANYTHING from Horizon Hobby if you live in Canada. Eventhough you pay for shipping when you place your order, UPS specializes in ROBBING YOU BLIND at your doorstep in ADDITION to what you already paid for shipping. Insist on everything being shipped via the post office.

If you use your heli as a cat chaser, you are going to find a fresh load of cat poop in your shoe first thing in the morning.

I can't help it! The cats took so well to the CX3, they think the MCX and MSR are mere toys.

BTW, are you talking from experience?

Gunner 969

I have discovered, on my own, how to properly install the rubber ring for boom support. The ring wraps around the back screw legs ( I guess there called that lol) off the main frame, but between main frame and battery tray and then out back. Its hard to explain without a pic, once I have this done I will take a clear picture of the procedure. Its easy enough. This procedure though should take the stress load off the skids and battery tray and there "should" be no worries.

www.flyrcrivesud.com Day 2 – Parts Weighing

I have just finished weighing all the pieces I received for my www.flyrcrivesud.com mods. I was asked to do this by a fellow RC Groups member, whom we have a discussion regarding the weight factor with co-axial, and heli’s period. Sonny at www.flyrcrivesud.com stresses the fact that keeping the weight low is crucial to the CX series. I have a tendency to agree based on my own experience. Now, the digital scales I am using are not top of the line, but not junk either. And it was purchased brand new today. The weights are as :

From www.flyrcrivesud.com (weight in grams)
- “New” refers to the new “Zero Blades Strikes Core kit and new main gear”
- (<1) Refers to less than 1 gram, but will be added as 1 gram in this case.

1. Battery Tray 4
2. Landing Skids 4
3. 2 Blades 7
4. New Longer Inner Shaft 4
5. New Outer Shaft (includes, gear, bearing, bushing) 6
6. New Main Gear + Retaining nut with screws 2 7. Tail Boom Assembly 12
8. Fuselage 5
9. 2 Linkage Arms (<1) 1
10. Blade Grip screws + washers 3
11. Lower Rotor Head 1
12. One Side of Blade Grips (1 gram x 4 = 4 grams) 4

Total Weight of www.flyrcrivesud.com = 53 Grams

From www.boomtownhobbies.com (weight in grams)

1. Shorter Flybar with weights 9
2. Shorter Flybar without weights 3

Stock Parts Blade/ Upgrade Aluminium Parts CX3 Parts: (weight in grams)
Note, that the fuselage has been painted, thus adding extra weight and was done merely out of curiosity. Also, the outer shaft was weighed without bearing and washers.

1. Stock E Flite battery 44
2. Stock Fuse (painted) 23
3. 1 Stock Blade Upper 4
4. 1 Stock Blade Lower 3
5. Stock Skids 5
6. Stock Swash 2
7. Stock Inner Shaft 2
8. Stock Outer Shaft with Gear 5
9. Stock Flybar 9
10. Inner Shaft with Aluminium Head 5
11. Main Gear with retaining nut and screws (<1) 1
12. Lower Rotor Head (<1) 1
13. Aluminium Swash Plate 4

The only E Flite aluminium upgrades I have not weighed are the upper bearing holder and lower rotor head. However, I will not be using the lower rotor head anyways.

Also, I weighed by previous mod parts, the findings are as follows: (weight in grams)

1. Superskids 400 series landing gear with CX3 adapters
and SuperGrips for skids with 14mm M2 screws 22
2. Microheli Aluminium CX3 Battery Tray with screws 6

Results of Findings:

1. Sonny’s Fuselage is definitely lighter, but that’s a no brainer when you compare sizes.
2. The blades are about the same weight.
3. Sonny’s landing skids are 1 gram lighter than stock.
4. Sonny’s “New” Inner Shaft is 2 grams greater in weight, but longer.
5. Sonny’s “New” Outer Shaft is 1 gram heavier, however, it is longer and this measurement included the bearing, and washer.
6. The Stock Flybar and boomtownhobbies Flybar are the same weight, however, the boomtownhobbies Flybar is shorter than stock and has heavier weights.
7. Sonny’s main gear is 1 gram heavier.
8. Sonny’s Battery Tray is 2 grams lighter than the Microheli one; however, I do not have the stock weight of the battery holder.
9. The Total Weight of the Blades Grips Kit which includes, 4 blades, screws/washer set, lower rotor head, 4 grips, and 2 linkage rods is equal to 23 grams
10. Based on my findings, I should definitely save on weight, I have not yet calculated the exact number yet, but this is bound to change as I will be receiving Aero Nuts motors and will be removing the stock motors and heat sink that is currently on my CX3. I hope this is of some use and helps others in his/her attempt to modify the E Flite Blade CX3. More to come in the following days.

Hey Razor, thanks for the tip on the rubber band. Unfortunately, I'm at my inlaws all this weekend and can't play with my toys.

I don't have any more tips on the CX3... it's temperamental and needs to be well setup. Blade tracking is very important.

I know you're talking CX3, but I just bought a CX2 and it seems to have the rcrivesud boom on it. It also has a spare canopy that is a match to that one you show. I don't see how it fits this heli. Is it me? The only way that canopy will fit is if I relocate my 4-in-1. It also doesn't have any rubber band/ O-Ring on it. It has a bracket that's only held to the rear servo by double-stick tape! Is that what's supposed to be on there?!! The bracket/plate also has a larger hole below the one that's being used for the 5mm boom. I assume it's for an 8mm boom (?).
This thing has an aluminum swash and aluminum lower rotor head and upper bearing holder. Even though those parts are aluminum, the upper rotor head and the stabilizer flybar hub/holder are plastic. I guess I need an extended shaft and aluminum head along with rcrivesud's pivoting blade holders. I know a lot of you guys on here are Canadian and rcrivesud finally gives you guys a break in S&H, but isn't there anyplace in the States that carries their stuff to give us a little relief?

Hi Jack, its me again - now here ... ... I can't answer the O-Ring question, but as far as the canopy goes I might have an explanation: AFCsystems sells a Canopy that looks EXACTLY the same - ONLY FOR THE LAMA3 !! (maybe whoever you bought that bird from ordered the AFC Lama3 canopy and had the same problems ... and because it wouldn't work he sold the heli ??
And a place in the US who carries their stuff ... if I would be in a significantly more financially secure position than the verge of bancruptcy for most of the time, I would have started importing the stuff months ago ... oh well, now someone else is going to make the big bucks with it

The canopy I got was an extra one. The heli has a CX2 front canopy half on it with the boom. I guess the only thing holding my boom on is double-stick tape.

Kodiak Jack

Yes the boom should have a o ring on in for sure. Go to www.flyrcrivesud.com and check out Sonny's stuff. check out pics these links for a example of what the boom is supposed to look like. The ring is fastened to below the main frame and hooks onto a stabilizer fin on the boom and is pulled back into place to act like a brace or stabilizer I guess. These pics will also show you how the canopy should look. On the CX3, the only thing that holds this fuse on is the front rod affixed to the batteru holder. Your spare probably does have holes in it right? Neither, does mine. I hope this helps; I should have more pics up of it built in days to come.
