I just realized that if you go to Sonny's website, in the pic posted below, the battery tray is an older version than the one I got. The battery tray is open on the bottom, and is where I think the rubber band used to go. However, on the version I have the batt tray is closed, and I think (I haven't actually built it yet) that the rubber band attaches to the bottom back of the main frame where the screw posts that attach the battery tray to the main frame. This could alleviate the flexing od battery tray and landing gear. However, I am not sure on this yet. I am in correspondance with Sonny now

However that is close to the gears, so I don't know. Will post answer when I receive it.

I have the new batter tray as well. What I did was use the landing gear, and put the band around the back two legs of the landing gear, then put the landing gear in place.

This way, the band goes around the bottom of the battery tray and doesn't come close to any moving parts. But, it does squeeze the landing gear tight in the back.

I'd be interested in hearing what Sonny says.

Gunner. Also, when you installed the landing skids into the battery tray, did you fit they fit nice and straight?

Good point. I actually never tried the skids without the rubber band... I need to try that and see.

BTW, I just got a call from my LHS and my MSR is in!!!

Only thing is, the rubber band will be dangerously close to the gears. I am still waiting for a response from Sonny. Maybe I have got him and his crew stumped, lol.

My MSR is also in, off to Barriezi go to get it. Oh and Gunner Sonny has still not replied, perhaps he is ignoring me. I hope not, I am sure he will have a good solution to this issue. His customer service has been outstanding.

Thanks, razor. i'm curious to see what he says.

good luck with the MSR. It's a wild child compared to the MCX.

I did... I got a couple of flights in before I had to leave the house... This is my first non-coax heli, and it is quite different than coax. Especially when it picks up speed... someone said earlier that with a coax, you learn to react, but with FP, you have to anticipate. Well, that's 100% true! If you wait to see what the heli is going to do, it's too late, and the heli has plowed into your cat who then happily chomps down on the rear rotor motor.
